View Full Version : Game engine
DJ_Lizard 06-06-2004, 02:24 PM Hello, I'm cg artist but not programmer, I mean I can model and texture chars and game levels, but not develop any programs or stuff. So my question is, what engine can I chose, coz I need engine in wich all I have to do is to put models and map (I can program if it's simple code eg. doors or something similar).
My game would be from the 3rd person view, adventure, quest or something like this.
Thanks for your help...

Maybe stop searching for Game engines and start searching for mutimedia tool kits or something.
There are a few game engines out there (especially for 1st or 3rd person) that is more an artist tool and less a programers tool.
They advertise that you just click what you want to happen.
Here is the one I have started using.
Cosmos Creator

Indeed, there are a couple of tools out there that allow rapid creation of multimedia 3d applications (games, visualisation etc)
have a look at virtools, cosmos creator and quest3d.
personally i use quest3d because it's a lot cheaper, faster and flexible than virtools. it's simply an incredible tool with which you can build just about anything 3d.
cosmos creator looks promising, but is focused on small files and web3d (correct me if i'm wrong here..)
but that's just my taste... perhaps those other tools might fit your purpose well.
www.quest3d.com
www.virtools.com
hope this answers it a little, good luck :)
