well yeah but is there any other way? where i don't have to use other progs? can i melt them together just with max? or do i HAVE to get one of these combustion programs?

Put an .avi as the background image, use a ground plane that has a matte/shadow material applied to it, and do some camera matching.

If you have questions about any of the above steps, the help file and/or 3dsmax book covers them.

k thanks, i'll try that. :bounce:

edit: sorry but i just don't get it. help ain't that supportive either
when i put .avi as backround image and create a plane with matte/shadow material. then what purpose this plane has? when i for an example create a box and then render, it does not look like it's part of the .avi

aren't there really no simple tehnique tutorials?

I think the matte shadow material was suggested for compositing the shadow portion of your rendering, use 'normal' shaders for the composite object, matte for the ground (or other) shadow receiving surface.

Apply the matte shadow to the ground plane only. I have a little WIP that I'm working on in my spare time. I will attach some screens and details below but basically, I put the .avi as the environment background (set to screen). Added a plane for the ground with a matte/shadow material. Put a camera in the scene. I'm still learning camera matching myself, so I know there's plenty of info on that in the help file. Also in the max6 tutorial book theres a tutorial on matching a building to a photo.

Render:

Some extra tips:
Get some grey or white styrofoam balls and place at your filming location. You can use them as camera matching points, just measure the distance from the camera to the balls. Also you can grab the light data from them using photoshop (color dropper). This will make it a bit easier to match the lighting conditions unless your going to do a HDRI setup.

Hope this info helps further.

Jeff

Note: I didn't have shadows turned on for that render. But thats the purpose of the ground plane with matte shadow material...to catch the shadows from the 3d objects.

ok i got the point now but there is one little problem left. when i put .avi as backround image then how can i see it from viewpoint? right now i have to render frame every time i want to see the backround? is there any way? viewpoint bacround image won't work here i guess... any preference on camera modify?

yeah, foun it now.. i have this stupid habit to ask before try :P sorry
