View Full Version : My first car
Sytron 07-20-2002, 02:04 PM Hi all!:wip:
My name is Jonatan.
This is my first post in this forum, and here you can see a picture of my first car model.
I used 3D Studio Max and v-ray to illuminated the scene, the car was modeled using some blueprints.

You can see more renders in mi web site:

Good bye, I hope that you like my car;)

Great job with that scenery !
It really lifts the impression of the car. Good modelling on it though .. but the surrounding steals the show :applause:

Hey, Love the render, hate the car!
sorry
It actually looks like your first car model.
definitlly not your first scene!
can I sugest something? change de avatar! make it something "you" and not "your's"
gives the impression your just that
And the render tells exactlly the oposite!
great stuff man, really very good!

The scene is great :)
The car is bad
very bad...
It is more of a square box then a real Smart.
The Smart is more rounded.
I would suggest to find as much pictures as you can about this car.
Go to a Mercedes dealer ( or a Smart dealer in some countries) take your camera along, tell them you are a 3d artist and you want some pictures. They will be glad to help you.

Just had a look at your site as well and your texturing modelling and rendering skills are all there... but...... there is a similar problem with both your Beetle and Smart car. In the main both are very nearly there and in parts are excellent .. but both are let down by you misunderstanding the actual shapes of parts of the cars. Neither are bad at all, just not accurate. You either need more reference or to look more closely at how the shapes form and flow. If you can get that sorted they will indeed be excellent. :)

Your textuing the great. The models are pretty good too. I totaly like your attention to detail in both your models and textures (rocks by the curb, cracks in walls, etc).
The only part I don't like is your tree. Both the trunk and the leaves look like they could use some more modeling and texturing work.
Awesome.

sure we want honesty on this forum, but at what cost, BAROBA?
i think it looks good. i've never seen this car before, but while BAROBA made some harsh comments about it not looking like a real "smart" i think the scene is a great first work.
heh, whops, i actually liked the car.. it isn't something that i'd buy, but it's inventive and creative.. very nice scene also... thanks for sharing w/ us!

Hey maxer, solo estamos criticando con henestidade lo que nos parece mal, solo esso!
By the waym when I sayd "hate the car" I ment "I hate smart"
althogu the model could use some roundinh like someone sayd.
I don't thing it is avery smart car. I think it's actully very stupid
have you seen the price! Geezz! almost as much as an Ibiza
any way! the scene IS 5 stars. but you get 4 star for the car, from me.
but hey! practice makes perfect!

I like the detail of the cardboard box of the background, itīs some kind of metaphor or hidden message? "a Smart and a box, the only difference is the price"
Nice textures (the mailbox graffiti is geat) and lighting. Looking at the license plate i deduce youīre from Valencia, arenīt you?

Jonatan,
I'm an architect and I have to say that your scene model is great! I hate the car and tree but even then the overall scene shows that you have immense talent! Your attention to detail is awesome. I wish my colleagues in the architectural Visualization field had your eye, your ability to texture and render with such realism....... Lighting is very, very good! Care to let us in on some of the technical aspects of your lighting? Vray is being discussed alot in our VIZ4 forums at autodesk.
Actually I don't hate your model of the car, I just don't like cracker box vehicles that look like they are caricatures of people....
I dislike the tree because it was the only thing in the scene that made me realize this was and artificial image........That's OK but totally counter productive to creating such great architectural realism......I'd have rather seen a RPG tree or something like that than that approximation.
Keep up the great work! Overall, AWSOME!
