Tou Her has entered the Machineflesh 2D Challenge.

this is my character for the challenge. he's an enhanced mech/man that is able to suck the souls out of his victims. he can be sent to any time period to find his victims.

the soul that the main character is sent for is the soul of a chimera (the mythical greek creature). he has to capture it's soul no matter what. the task is even more daunting since the chimera possesses three heads and my concept allows for the soul taker to collect all three souls of the heads to complete his mission.
this is the sketch of the ram head which is the middle head. he has 2 sets of horns.

here's the lion's head sketch. he is the right side head of the chimera.

here is the serpents head sketch. i made him more lizard like then snake. and he is to serve as the left head.

here's the chimera's body sketch. i tried to integrate elements of each creature into the body...but i'm still trying to flesh out what is what. the forelegs of the chimera will have the lions paws and the hind legs will have a goat's hoofs. the tail is more lizard/serpent like and the torso is a mixture between lion and ram...but moreso of a lions.
i'll try to post the comp. sketch ASAP.

here's a rough of the comp. just trying to stay loose and letting the shapes sort themselves out.
06-05-2004, 11:46 AM
here's my complete line art that i'll be using. the "machine" is taking the souls out of the chimera. it has already taken the serpent and the ram leaving the lion for last. all done is ps7.

i've started to lay down some basic colors for the painting. the canvas size is 14x8 and i'm laying it down with the airbrush tool.
06-05-2004, 11:52 AM
i started a soul layer around the machine. he is inhaling the lion's soul while previous trapt souls are keeping his arms powered/mobile. still tweaking this area.
Great sketches and a cool idea:thumbsup:

Beautiful idea, i like chimeras.....................nice sketches.........................:)
Could yu put pictures with a higher resolution....these are very small..?
Maybe you're a little bit too far of the term of the contest....machineflesh....?

just working on the body of the chimera. primarily focusing on the creatures heads. i decided to move the serpent head because it looked too awkward...will have to add it in later.

goli-i think that it's not too far off of the theme machineflesh because the character is the machineflesh. he's been given the technology to steal souls to enhance his physical prowess. the illustration might seem far off because he's not showing enough of the machine aspect yet. but he is a machineflesh that has stolen the chimera's soul.
thanks for your feedback.

i've tweaked the bg mountains a little. softening up the mountain lines. and i've also worked on the chimera's body. adding "scales" to his back and tail.
06-06-2004, 10:10 PM
actually this file is the one with the scales. the previous one is adding the green and blending it with the heads. or something like that. but yeah...scales.

just a new update. working on the figure
06-07-2004, 03:43 AM
just started the soul transfer of the lions head.
06-15-2004, 08:24 PM
i took out the serpents lower jaw...and worked on the chimera's paw.
06-15-2004, 08:28 PM
i added a new serpents head and added a new lower jaw. more blood also added here and there.
06-15-2004, 08:33 PM
i flipped the painting to see if i could fix the serpents which i ended up finishing and adding trails of his lost soul around his eyes. i also decided to take out the lower jaw because it just didn't feel right where i had placed it. so the serpent is missing his lower jaw :D
06-15-2004, 08:36 PM
here's the final coloring. i flipped the canvas again and tweaked some parts. and voila it's finis.
06-15-2004, 08:39 PM
had to submit the final. here it is again.
