Down here in Miami there's this company called "The Paella Kings." When you hire them, they roll up to whatever venue you're having, and just set up this massive Casuela and just go to town. Great, great stuff. Last time I had any from them was last year for a wedding rehearsal dinner.. My stomach is grumbling just thinking of it.

Well. This is the thing. I've always had this "undercover" job as a Professional International Chef. Given demonstrations on cooking paellas, for the last 20 years....since I was really little. I was going to keep it a surprise...but, in addition to teaching animation...I was going to show my ultimate secret technique in cooking paellas. I'm aware, this will make people more than surprised. I mean, it even surprises myself, what the hell. Truth is...when people get to try my paellas...they'll fall on the ground. Literally. Fall on the ground. That's how horrible my paellas are. :)

My very first paella. This is the story behind it (mine as well since I'm waiting like you guys are). I cooked this paella at an ex-girlfriend's house. It was a surprise for her mother. Now...what happened was, that I had to have my friend Rodrigo on the phone while I was cooking without my ex-girlfriend or her mother watching me, because I didn't know what the hell I was doing. True story. So, the whole time I was like "The Paella is coming along you guys!!...", then picked up the cel-phone..."Ok Rodrigo, I'm lost, help me out here! what? the rice before or after??...shrimp??...I need shrimp now???". So, that evening was quite interesting. This is the result of it.

Something for a reasonable price, I just recently bought a desktop pc, so my wallet is a little thin. It will be a little thiner yet after signing up for AM. I really need to have mobility for doing assignments. That way if I need to go anywhere in the next 18 mo. I can still do assignments (provided I get in) :)

Dear Sir

Eighteen months ago I upgraded to Girlfriend 1.0 from Drinking Mates 4.2 which I'd used for years without any trouble.

However, there are apparently conflicts between these two products and the only solution was to try and run Girlfriend 1.0 with the sound turned off.

To make matters worse, Girlfriend 1.0 is also incompatible with several other applications, such as Lads Night Out 3.1, Football 2 and Playboy 6.1.

Successive versions of Girlfriend proved no better. A shareware beta-programme, Party Girl 2.1 that I tried, had many bugs and left a virus in my system, forcing me to shut down completely for several weeks.

Eventually I tried to run Girlfriend 1.2 and Girlfriend 1.0 at the same time, only to discover that when these two systems detected each other they caused severe damage to my hardware.

Sensing a way out, I then upgraded to Fiance 1.0 only to discover that this product soon had to be upgraded (at great cost) to Wife 1.0, which I reluctantly agreed to, because, whilst Wife 1.0 tends to use up all my available resources, it does come bundled with FreeSexPlus and CleanHouse2000.

Shortly after this upgrade however I then discovered that Wife 1.0 can be very unstable and costly to run. For example, any mistakes I made were automatically stored in Wife 1.0's memory and could not be deleted. They then resurfaced months later when I had forgotten about them.

Wife 1.0 also has an automatic Diary Explorer and E-mail Porn Filter, and can, without warning, launch Photostrop and Whingezip! These latter products have no Help files and I have to try and guess what the problem is myself.

Additional costly problems are that Wife 1.0 needs updating regularly, requiring Shoe Shop Browser for new attachments and also Hairstyle Express, which needs to be reinstalled every other week. Wife 1.0 also spawns unwelcome child processes that drain my resources.

It also conflicts with some of the new games I wanted to try, stating that they are an illegal operation. When Wife 1.0 attaches itself to my Audi TT program it often crashes or runs the system dry.

Wife 1.0 also has a rather annoying pop-up called Mother-in-Law, which can't be turned off. Recently I've attempted to try Mistress 2000, but there could be problems. A friend has alerted me to the fact that if Wife 1.0 detects the presence of Mistress 2000 it could delete all my MS Money files before un-installing itself.

Any ideas?

As crazy as it sounds, check out some of the Emachines laptops. I have an Emachines 6810 with a mobility 9600 and once I loaded the Omegadrivers Maya ran like a dream. Customer service has also been good. Great deal at sub $1,200

If you feel like it (and don't have anything better to do ;-) Why not tell everyone:

1) What medium you plan to use with AM, if you get in...
2) If 3D, will you be learning on Maya (either the PLE or the student version)
3) If 3D and you're learning on Maya, will you also be using your "normal" 3D app, if so, what is it?

I'll go ahead and answer, though I realize I may be the only one who does...

2) Gonna try to get the student version of Maya. I figure with 13k, what's another half a k? :)
3) I don't know about simultaneously, but I plan on doing a lot of the stuff in Cinema 4D, which is my main app these days.

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 - and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance - particularly in the flower and jewelry
applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0, NBA 3.0. and Golf Clubs 4.1.

Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the
System. I've tried running defragging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail. What can I do?

First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating System.


Please enter the command: "http: I Thought You Loved Me.htm" and try to download Tears 6.2 and don't forget to Install the Guilt 3.0 update.

If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. But remember, overuse of the above

Application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0, or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the Snoring Loudly Beta.

Whatever you do, DO NOT installs Mother-in-law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources). Also, do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Hot Food 3.0 and Lingerie 7.7.

Hey, hey, hey! No, I know Cinema's had a really bad rep for CA in the past.... Cinema's undergone a lot of improvements. Thankfully, I just picked it up at R9, so I didn't trudge through all those painful times. But with MOCCA 2, the CA tools are significantly better than they used to be (that's the general consensus). Add in a plugin or two (like Cactus Dan's CDIK) and Cinema's not too bad for CA these days.

What's the commercial about, if you haven't driven an <whatever> lately, you haven't driven one? Same thing with Cinema 4d. It's a drastically different program than it was a year or two ago.

Best quote I ever read about programming... (and I'm a programmer, btw) was in a book I have... I think it was Code Complete, or Debugging the Development Cycle. The quote was this:

If you ask a programmer the status of something he's working on, and the answer he gives you is correct, it's only by chance.

Unfortunately, I know that all too well. Sucks to be on the receiving end of it, though! The problems could be resolved in 5 minutes.... or it could be 5 hours.... we don't know. Hopefully the programmer does, and hopefully it's closer to the 5 minutes. :) I'm real excited about AM, but I've only had about an hour's worth of sleep or so... I'm fading....
