I found the plugin I needed... I was using an older version that was failing to work.....
New problem though,
how in the heck can I get my beautifully created quads out of lightwave and into max?
When I export using the obj2max plugin it traingulates everthing! Crap!
HELP please!

well i responded with help to your problem in the maya forum. You need to export and import into .iges

I can't export the iges format natively from Lightwave... although there may be a plugin. For now I am pursuing the lightwave direct to max option.... but believe me, if this doesn't work out I'll be looking to get my files out to iges.

I don't know Lightwave very well but providing you export it as quads.. it should stay as quads.. I've never had any problems with OBJ2Max in that regard. Try checking how you are exporting from Lightwave, and what options or defaults you may have. :)

Sorry to tell you this but Max is a Tri based program. I'm not sure if the new edit poly feature is pure quads or fake quads (hinding the tri segments to the viewer).
Try using a LW importer within max. May give you much better control. There are a few around check www.Maxplugins.de and you will find it.
