Today's topic:

"Freefall" by erilaz

Posted TUESDAY June 1st 2004: 11:49 US EST

Welcome to the cgtalk sketch group.

We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* 640 x 480 or 480 x 640
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" o plagiarizing.
* The topics will be posted every day M-F between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The thread will be CLOSED EXACTLY 24hours later.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
* Ill post ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.

Good luck

-Roberto

Corel Painter 8 / Wacom :: 25 mins

Description -
For most of his life his horizons were only a few inches away, then one day without warning the world expanded, and the horizons fell away as he rose.

"Oh My!" thought the tortoise "What a wonderful friend I have here in the Eagle."

Up and up he soared, and suddenly there were rocks below...

Comments: The fall of satan, or some kind of demonic creature. As the story goes, satan was one of Gods angels, however he fell from glory, banished from heaven. My interpretation, I would like to spend more time on this, but then it wouldn't be a sketch!!

2 Hours 45 minutes In Adobe Photoshop 7. All handpainted, just the motionblur is added afterwards... Hope you like it. Dont know if I grasped the intention of the assignment, but I tried...

derbyqsalano: nice work, but if this is a sketch, I'd like to peek at your normal work ;)

allright second try. First one dissapeared forever because of a freakin photoshop hangup.

Okay, I had some time to do some work. This started as a 2 minute pen drawing. I scanned it in and colored it in Photoshop. Coloring took about an hour and a half.

I was originally going to have the face facing down, but I like it better facing the side. Its not quite as obvious and lets the viewer use their own imagination.

It was nice to draw on paper for a change - haven't done that in a while. 10 minute sketch with No.2 lead pencil on white ink jet paper - scanned into Photoshop and adjusted levels. No references - just out of my head.

Grr me and my scanner are not friends. Its new and I am having complications with it. *kicks scanner*
And i have never added an image here before either, I thought I had the image in my site but guess not.
Is there anyway to get images on here without having to upload to a separate site?

chikega: I think this is one of the best in this thread. It's original and links in nicely to the topic.

Fnote: This has to be my second best. I love the way it implies rather than states what is happening, in my view thats the making of a great artist!

Recycled stuff from a short from a while back. The character fell in it... so I thought I'd reuse it. Next time I'll be back to this forum with a pencil! Now must sleep...

Oh, and it took about a half hour to comp this shot. To generate the original stuff took a lot longer...
