Ok... I have a licensed copy of 4.0 for about 10 more months. Do I have to pay for the upgrade to 4.5? Or will I be able two download the update?

I have never had Maya before so I don't know how upgrades work.

the regular way is getting maya over your local dealer.

alias never put new versions on their website for download. only updates have been put on the website. (which may have changed in the last months with all the price/policy/license changes)

usually your dealer gets the new maya versions and then sends them out to the customers.

but as i said: that is the old way of handling it and i dont know if they still do it the same way

You have to pay, and I think is something around 1000$ for an upgrade from 4.0 to 4.5(not so sure though).
