what the heck. photoshop wont let me use Filter > Render > Lighting effects..

i was doing some tutorials and i cant complete any of them bcus photoshop wont let me use it. its just greyed out and i cant click on it.

so you've tried it on a new blank document in RGB then yes?

Yes; does it gray out on one particular doc or on all the docs you create ?

you can't apply this filter on certain layers..ie. Vector layers or masks.
