Tried the help file that comes with max? If that's not enough for ya, try 3D-Palace, that have heaps of video tutorials on modeling sci-fi stuff.

Go watch some Sci-Fi movies. A spacesip is modelled like just about anything else:
Do some drawings/sketches
examine the object and chose the starting modeling technique
model it, texture it
And there you go.
There are thousends of modeling tutorials, you know...
