View Full Version : Very stupid transparency/bump question

Okay, this sounds like an absolutely embarassing rookie question (but I'll ask it anyway):
When meens "black" on a transparency map "not transparent" and white "transparent" (or vice versa)?
Easy to say concerning e.g. alpha channels in Photoshop, but I think I recall that Maya doesn't follow this rule consequently, in other words: sometimes a black value is interpeted as "transparent" by Maya, but sometimes not.
Or do I talk complete nonsense? ;)

The same thing I encountered concerning bump maps, but I would explain this by the normals' direction.
