I just got my copy of Messiah. I have been Lightwaving for a couple of years.

Are there other switchers out there that could shed some tips on getting up to speed quickly? Major differences, gotchas, things you wish someone had told you that could have sped up your learning curve?

Do tell. I'm sure these would be great for anyone starting out with Messiah, but more specifically, Lightwavers trying to make the transition as smooth and as painless as possible.

Well, the good news, Brandybuckle, is that messiah has, what seems, the tightest and most compatible connection with LW. And since, messiah was developed as a plugin for LW many moons ago, they share a lot of similarities as well as weaknesses.

You might want to check out some of the beginner's tips. The most important "gotcha" that gets every LW'er starting out is trying to delete an object or an effect with the keyboard "-", minus key. In messiah, you have to use the "-", minus key on the numeric pad.

Make sure you take a look a the keyboard shortcuts as well as the "What's New" section of messiah. A lot of the descriptions, especially of newer features are only covered in the those updates.

Make sure you go through the tutorials in the messiah.htm docs and you'll be ahead of the game. As you get more into it, we'll try to help you as much as we can. I'm still learning messiah myself - so, I'll do what I can.

You may also want to join the Yahoo! messiah group since a lot of the power users frequent the group more than they do here at Cgtalk.

Again, welcome!
