I'm having a problem here where I get a dark cirkle spot on top of a Lathe profile. The profile curve is made of a spline. I tried have a double curve(mass) profile, but same thing.

Does anybody here how can I solve this?

thanks in advance.

There is an option in the lathe modifier marked "Weld Core". Click on that and see if it helps. Fear not, as this is a common problem.

This effect stems from your original spline. It needs to be a closed spline. As is stands now, the lathe modifier is doing exactly what it should...

Try connecting the spline all the way around, making it a closed shape. This will fix your problem.

Hope that makes sense.

Here's what I mean:

thanks for the input. I tried it both ways, and I got same results.
this must be a bug.

thanks for the help.

I garentee it's not a bug. Play with the sub-object mode of the lathe maodifier, and move the pivot around...that hole is quite common.

I agree, the axis must be off the center.

Fix it by hand:

Apply edit mesh modifier
Go to vertex sub-object mode
select the vertices surrounding the black hole
Use the collapse button to get the all in the same spot, effectivly closing your hole.

The 'weld core' option only works when the inner vertices of the resulting object are very close to eachother.

Using a closed spline is often not really nescessary, and would in this case be a waste of polygons...

thanks all you guys for the help. I managed to fix this by moving the pivot center point a little outward.

cheers,
