howdy

still haven't found the money to buy messiah, but i'm always interested. anyway, i wanted to know how uv maps are handled in studio. can you use lightwave uv maps, if so is there still the distortion, or do you make them in messiah.

cheers

You can use LW UV maps - I haven't seen the distortion issue - but I probably need to test it out on more complex examples. I've also created UV maps using BodyPaint 2 with LW. A quick rough test:

sorry, i thought i'd clarify myself. when i say distortion when using uv maps in messiah, i mean is there any distortion in messiah like in lightwave when you use uv maps in subpatch mode.

I haven't noticed any stretching. In the above image, the UV map was created using Body Paint 2 - LW wasn't involved. I'll try to do a simple test using a grid image to see. In any case, the next rev of messiah:studio is coming out soon and the renderer is purportedly being given a lot of attention. :)
