well, here it is, this is my first attempt at having fun with a graph tab. Now, this being my first time around with this medium, im just looking for crits and comments to keep going.

Unless im told otherwise, id like to say the face is not too far from being finished, but what do i know... as for the hair, i have absolutely no clue on how to go about doing it. i just know whatever wig she's got on atm is one layer away from deletion.

If you're using Photoshop, go to File > Save for Web > and adjust the quality to 60 to 70, format as JPEG, and reupload. 1.5MB is a very heavy image.

The image itself lacks depth. The hair needs highlights and shadows for individual strands and the face could use its own highlights/shadows. You've picked some decent colors, but you can add much more to this if you concentrate on simulating a more defined light source with subsequent shadows and highlights.

thnx any insight is very much appreciated, has for the hair, do u mean i gotta pick a 2-3 pixel brush and draw each strand of hair with its highlights and shadows?

im guessing i could use a custom brush, but i dont know what i should make it like.

anyways, i had time to work a bit on it before going to work.
still very angry at the hair.

You should try to think of the eyelashes and the hair as masses, not individual strands. They're both too busy. The eyelashes just look like crazy spiderlegs right now. I'd draw them in as a soft, smudgy black line and add maybe one or two lashes near the corners of her eyes....and the hair - you should just block that in as a dark mass and indicate the direction of the strands by putting in highlights, not drawing in every little hair.

thnx, i will keep that in mind, altho at this point, i think im just gonna drop this piece and try something else, cuz being the bright guy that i am, i flatten the image and saved it that way, and im guessing it's really gonna be a pain to completely redo the eyes.

im used to real brushes and paint, but In any case, im sorta getting the feel for using this graphic tablet
plz take note that its NOT a wacom... :(

as for brushes in photoshop, they sorta confuse me. i never know which one to use as they are so many and i just end up using the same one (one that varies the opacity according to the graphtab pressure) and just bracketting the size up and down as needed. any good links/tuts/articles to refer me to?
