This is night's favourite passtime...with her silver staff she paints pinprick of shine..which mortals call 'stars'...
But again..it all depends upon her mood ,since its been told that her emotions wax and wain.If she is in a bad mood,there wont be any stars..but when she's happy....she eventually leaves a long streak on the black canvas.....

something that i've seen to be quite a pattern in topics is that there are a lot of vague, one word topics. sometimes it's fun to go off something broad like that, but take a look at C.A.'s daily sketch topics: first of all ... they're insane! you get to draw something that wouldn't exist in this world and make it believable, it exersizes your brain. second, the topics are specific enough that you know what the function of the thing you're drawing but have to express it in a visual way... it's a great way for people who want to get some experience concepting. somtimes i think these "light" and "fire" (haha and how many "red" related topics have we had?) kinds of points to draw on are creative cop-outs.

i would suggest that the DSF gravitate towards more crazy stuff. The gollum one was a great stride for creativity!

how about a creature topic... perhaps one regarding composite critters. keep in mind that compisite animals are ones made out of different parts. take for example the chimera, griffon, mermaid/man, centaur and sphyx(es?).

Hello,

I am very interested in this thread as I am able to sketch quite detailed pieces within a half hour. I have a Wacom Intuos 3 12x19 with Airbrush Stylus and 30" with 20" monitors, using the 30" in full screen mode, rarely touching my keyboard at all.

I was under the impression that this was a sketch gallery, not a painting gallery. I also was wondering if you could sketch something in pen and paper then use that? I think that if it is a sketch, and there is a time limit, you should be able to sketch in pen or pencil on paper, scan it and upload it, which brings me to my next point.

There should be a formal entry perion in your cgs gallery that allows you to start a sketch with the first strock, then submit the final within the time period alloted, as of now you can't upload an image into the gallery and submit it to the daily sketch.

I also think that sketches should be just that, not full on paintings, that is not a sketch. A sketch should be a black and white pen or pencil sketch otherwise it defeats the whole purpose of this forum.

These are just my humble opinions as I sketch every day and do may in an hour period, sometimes up to 4.

Please advise.

Hey Ken,

what people believe to be a sketch widely varies from artist to artist. For some it's a visual brainstorming, for others a structured step on their way to a finished intricate painting and others basically do speedpaintings.

Nevermind. Do what you please.

You can also use whatever medium you want to. There's been people who have been doing pencil lineart only. You could, for all I and mostly everyone else here cares, do collages of images and photos. Use food. Do a time exposure light painting photo with led lights... I dunno...
This is a playground.
