Hi Roberto (and all other Speedpaint guys ánd girls! :) ),
First of all it's really un-cool to see the speedpaint-forum a bit 'drying out'... Everytime I watch there are less and less submissions on the themes, which I feel very sad about. After last week finishing the big Journey-challenge, I have planned to work some more on my 2D-style, so I hope to be posting more often in the future! :)
I also have a new proposal for a topic: july 15 it is 400 years ago that the (Dutch :buttrock:) masterpainter 'Rembrandt van Rijn' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rembrandt) was born. Won't it be a cool idea to make a week full of Rembrandt-inspired themes of that week? Like 'The Nightwatch', 'Selfportait' (a selfportait of your own, in Rembrandt style?), and some other things.
What do you think of it?

I know what you mean about there being less submissions to the DSF. It is very sad.

I know what you mean about there being less submissions to the DSF. It is very sad.

Theme weeks are fun for the people that take an interest in that subject. And speaking of themes - Presenting the DSF Theme Week:
True, but even so, they sometimes are too much. For instance, the Camelot legend week. Normally I love that story, but after a few topics of it, I got sick of them and wanted something different. It's just that a whole week of them gets a little boring after a while. Of couse, it's all personal opinion. :)

So, we need a DSF war man. The next avatar war should be announced publicly, like a front page so every CGTalk member will notice it and hopefully participate. A huge civil avatar wars that maybe evan lasts for two days

The coolest topics are the ones that have a lot of potential for showing the individuality of the artist (as opposed to everyone doing essentially the same thing, which is sometimes just a coincedence, like the Blind Warrior one). Well, I *never* actually had an imaginary friend (which is not to say I lacked the imagination), but it's the idea of the thing, just as I'm sure many people don't actually have alter-egos, but for others every time they sign on it means assuming an alter-ego. I suggest you make the time limits a little longer-10 and 15 mins are just too short. Maybe if you make the shortest time 30 mins, that would be better?

That's genius - I hadn't considered the implications of two grandmothers! It saves so much time if one holds the squash.
...Actually...this is the one with the Viking Horde (garbed in nought but thongs), the Amazon fleet (garbed in nought but thongs), Mt Fuji, the ghost of Freddie Mercury and a chihuahua in tartan smoking a cigar. And the llamas. You can't go wrong with llamas. Besides, tomorrow IS the end of the world. Some crazy looking guy I met in London today had it written on a bit of cardboard hanging from his neck, so it's gotta be true.

No, no, no. Those areas are when Hell was going through a redesign phase and they brought in everybody from Martha Stewart to Extreme Home Makeover and ended up with a lot of bookshelves and draperies. And of course since the only books allowed in Hell are Steinbeck's literary works it seemed like a lot of wasted space.

One: a sticky 'DSF sugestions, ideas, and discussion' thread (current bullhorns dissapear from the 1st page too fast)

...anyway, 2: a sticky 'Awatar War' thread with ocassional Roberto's posts like 'theme change: food fight!'. And that way, when the daily topic will be just not inspiring enough - there would be always an option to simply kick some a**es in AW . :)
