There have been a lot of potential "funny" topics lately, like "and then there was silence" and "dogs and their owners". I'd like to see some more environment topics, more movie-style, so the participants have to think of an extremely cool environment or building or whatever, along with composition. I love to bring emotions in my pictures, so one can really feel the intentions of the image. Anyone agree with me on this? I'm a fan of Ryan church and I'd love some topics in his line of work.

Hi I have an idea i would like to see in the Daily Sketch 100...

The topic is "Double Meanings" (subject name is open to negotiacion lol)
The idea is to sketch common-use composite words with double meanings. Even the most simple would make nice a sketch.

For example:

Fast Food: food on the run.
Milk Teeth: a tooth made of milk
Middle Age: Big Age and Small Ages sandwich brother.
Hijack: Jack saying hi.
Speed braker: a man who brakes speed for a living.

I know some are far-fetched but then again some must be and its fun and I hope you get the point. There are millions and I dont want to ruin them by saying all I can think of. Wind pipe, wind instrument... just pick a dictionary and you'll find tons of them.

I have an idea, why don't we do another series of works with a theme, either a bunch in a row, like a weeks worth, or once a week for the forseeable future, with the same theme? that theme being character/creature/vehicle/environment design. ----So we could stretch our creative musles in a way other than just plain cleverness.

I'm thinking along the lines of:

Post-apocolyptic peasant
Future cop
Fantasy Warrior-priest
Daemonic Cauldron
Temple of the Sky
Hover wheelchair

...to name a few. I know it's closer to what we'd do anyways, if it weren't for the challenge, but on the other hand, it would be really interesting seeing all different ideas for some really similar concepts. I think it could be truly inspirational.

I think the best topics leave a lot of room for interpretation and imagination. Old cliches and sayings seem to create some cool ideas, especially when they're ambiguous. The best ones are starting gates for stories that can go anywhere.

And will people stop posting ideas like Life, War, Alien, Swordsman, etc?!? I stopped reading them after page 3 or so... Topics have to inspire the artists! Some of the good ideas done so far really create stories, or make the artist think of something, and possibly ironic topics create really funny and imaginative results!

this isn't a suggestion for a topic but an idea, to continue the talk about encouraging people to post their pics and practice to refine their skills... I think that besides the sketch of the week award we (I say we and i never vote:blush: , 'cause it takes so much time, but that's another issue) should vote a level up award, to praise the evolution of people who have demonstrated improvement from their early sketches. That way the encouragement not necessarily goes to the most skilled, but the one who's ready to try new things, and to work hard; in other words, if you are good but you maintain your level throughout the time, you are far from getting the award.

It sounded clear in my head but now i guess i explained bad. Hope it's understandable.

I like the idea of doing a play on words - for example a phrase like "water table" could mean where the water is geologically or a table made of water. What if we did some like that?
