Title: Character And Armoured Suit, Pascal Blanché (3D)
Name:
Country:
Software:

Took me a hell of time to model this one, because ...
I plan to sell the model (the girl) on turbosquid!
(Had to be a little less messy as i usually am with modelling )
hope you ll like it folks
:lightbulb
to the people interested in buying my model, send me directly an email here: lobo971@yahoo.com with CGKITS in the headline
( to help me filtering the mails )
Then tell me if you want to buy the girl, the armored suit or both..
I'll create a list to let you know when it's ready

Great work as usual. Front page coming right up. Exaclty how much will you be selling your model for. The only thing that bothers me is, it seems she has a big pakage going on or something in the crotch area. BUt other than that sweet sutff. Peace

Thanks pascal,

I would think you could charge more than that for your models, they are nice, but like you said I would not want to charge to much either. anyways I am glad you like my work, my site is a little out dated but o well.
If you get a sec check out this thread (http://cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=136453&perpage=15&pagenumber=18) I entered the 3d art to part contest, you will see my model on there. Peace

eh eh nice one Dude :)
U still have some time to do that??

Nice 2D feeling, personnaly I'd add some contrast in a way, but still the Blanché-s touch

really cool stuff. A good surprise, I have already seen ur wip on 3Dluvr but the result is really different and better. I like ur line of construction and specificaly the first one in the foreground with the smoke. It cut the pic and add a dynamic effect.

For me it's ur best and I found the same feeling than ur pirate. My favorite at this time.

@katon.. now you have mentionned this little anatomic detail.. i think you're right.. I know the model, and it doesnt show in another angle.. i'l bet it's a texture prob.. ill fix that , thx ;)

WOW! Pascal rox again!......everytime i look at ur work i feel so impressed about it polishness.Everything is so clear and well balanced.Ur art go far beyond the only skills about modeling and texturing ....ecc ecc.........
The balance betwen everything is the key.....well,this is what i feel.....is only my opinion.But...how much time u spend on concept and study of the image before starting model it?
(sorry for my damn bad english!)

nice... :applause:

the only little thing that bothers me is the difference of contrast between the front arm and the girl...
back arm as little less contrast than the girl, which is normal, but front arm as the same contrast as back arm...

or maybe it's my eyes...:surprised

funny, those robot hands reminds me of something huhuhuhuhu

pascal,

Great work as usual. It has a very painterly look, what setup have you used for lighting and rendering?

the only comment i can suggest is possibly a bit more contrast between the girls head and the armoured suit. But thats probably just personal preference.

awsome work:thumbsup:

Excellent mix. I like it a lot. Girl is really pretty and original, old fashion gun fits perfectly with her and the clothing. the Mecha is cool too, heavy as it can be and it wraps her perfectly in the composition.
I must say i'm forced to integrate my characters in environments now, it's obvious when i see this picture! damn you :)

here is a guy that rocks dear friends.

Looks nice, but the face ruins the whole image for me. It looks like her forehead is about an inch too far back, her eyes seem to be looking outward like a fish, and her mouth wraps too far around her face.

So I woke up, jumped online, saw the frontpage and said just like everyone else, " Pascal is back." It's all so beautiful. Did you completely model the robot or just the parts that fit into the composition? Would like to see the full robot. The girl with the retro sci fi gun is like whipped cream on the pie.

Absolutely dig it! Nothing sexier than a chick mecha pilot in short shorts! :-)

I really like the oldschool mech design, more robotish than clean cut smooth formed shell. The detail you've put into the girl and mech is also very impressive! Nice low angle too, catches both pilot and mech just right! Keep it up bud! look forward to seeing more additions!

thx Stipen, baby,E338.. and all of the folks here for all the warms and cool comments guys
@ -Oz- : took me lots of tests to find a descent composition.. hard to work with two characters standing in the same pict :surprised ...
And because this time I first thought about the characters before even thinking about a picture (as I usually do) i really had a hard time to create something interesting...

@acacaccaca: gaffe bonhomme, yen a qui pourraient ne pas trouver ca marrant ;)
@gameleo: I use Arnold Render... a new beta version is on tracks again, with all the features that a decent renderer should have: displacement, hdri, photorealistc focus,SSS... and all optimized and kickass quality! We are just a bunch of lucky guys who are authorized to play with it, but I hope a public release will be available soon :)
@book: I sure, will ;) are you interested by the robot also?

chikega
05-26-2004, 03:45 PM
Beautiful image! If I could make one humble suggestion - my eyes are drawn towards the wires inside the robot's cockpit - they look extremely faceted - maybe a couple more subdivisions to smooth them out a bit. Also, the smoke in the foreground is of the same resolution as the smoke in the background. Other than that - c'est parfait! :)

Your selling this girl!!

Wow I know where you can sell and make a good amount of money.

I think though you should make her nude and sell her, that will make her a little more generic and folks can adapt her to their personal peices

check out www.sixus1.com. You could definately do something like this and make a little cash flow.

www.daz3d.com
www.renderosity.com
www.runtimedna.com
www.3dcommune.com

Definately places to sell your models. If you'd like I could help you find someone who could rig it for a certain hated program. G.I.R.L featured in 3d world magazine is getting that treatment.

they have a very active buying club

Nice stuff Pascal, i especially like that not-so-serious feel it has. A bit stronger key light wouldn't harm IMO (mostly on the mech, but on the other hand, it looks like intentional choice), and maybe bit more of that orange rim light, esp. on the girl, to separate her from the mech.

Nice style to it as usual. I like the indecisiveness of it, because I don't know if that robot is protecting her of if she just killed/destroyed it and it's more a victory pose. Neat.

I agree with the crotch area being weird. And I don't particuarly like the eyeball. Doesn't seem real, doesn't seem cartooney. Just very oblong. Kinda like big waterdrop sitting on a surface (if that makes any sense...haha)

No problem Pascal!!

I just hope you get those models out and make a little cash. WIth your skill you deserve it, and if you market to the right demographic you'll be sure to pull in a few extra bucks that would come in handy for upgrades, dates with your woman, entertainment, pay off some bills, etc while really not having to do anything but put your model in the right Demographic area

Get that on DAZ or something and I'm sure you'll sell your models in the 100s if not 1000 mark.

But anything I can do to help great artists like yourself out. If you need further help in getting into that market let me know, I could possibly help you out.

After so many compliments, you deserve some honest critics.
I will not go into every mistaken detail, but
here are the most obviouse ones.

Look at the GROUND = too much obviously repetitive texture.

The SMOKE in front of the ladies leg is partially transparent
and I see the ground, but where is the soft outline of the foot?
It looks like cut off. The smoke has no depth - I have the feeling it's a vertical wall behind the lady. The smoke has no volume.

Regarding modelling I really like the machine, but not especially the LADY:

From the cutting of her hand through her body, strange deformation of the muscles along her legs, strange folding of the
material above her left leg, till to the lower jaw in an odd way connecting to her neck, like she doesn't have the right part of her face.
It makes her a future double chinned lady.

Strong parts of your image are the modelling of the robot and the sex appeal of the lady in regard to her chest.

I love your work Pascal, you're one of my heros of CG... and this new peice is no exception.

That said, I'm going to try my best to give you some crits...
(Even though I feel like a kindergartener with a crayon trying to critique Da'Vinci)

I think everything in the image is perfect except for 4 areas:

1. The womans face - I feel that her face is just kind of out of place in this picture, it has this cartoonish anime resemblance, which when compared with the rest of the image (realistic leg stockings fabric, mech behind) seems out of place... I think you should keep the anime resemblance, but just blend what you have now with a more realistic face so it mixes into a hyper-realisic look to better suit the image's feel.

2. The Skin - I feel it's the weakest material in the scene, it might look better dirtied up a bit with a scratch or two, or freckles, etc. This may also help with the face.

3. The Suit's Torso Area - As others have pointed out, the material for the main torso of the suit just isn't as impressive as the arms material and legs fabric.

4. The Gun - I think it would look cooler with the gun's nozzle area wider - think magnum, maybe smoke coming from it?

Other than those, I'd say it's perfect.
Oh, and could you PLEASE give us some info or show us some screenshots of your lighting setup?

well...go back home after a working night...think about a shower and a bed...have the bad idea to go on this f... site and see u last work...now  i can sleep...
really, it's awesome...i like the manga touch, the robot remind me a little dragonball's meka and the character flash gordon's daugther (if he had one...),the model, composition, colors are always perfect...so when all is perfect it's easy to find some minor fault...like the shoulder area (the arm seems go back in the torso) and the thumb a litle bit longer( i think).
however sure my favorite of u...
thank u to inspirate my day...just a question...the smoke is a photo manipulation or particule?
ps:...i hate u

i would never buy a model , i think the most interesting thing regarding 3d its to build yourself your own models then to apply them and build your own library by using your old models with new parts.

good one dude.

something bothers me about the female though. The models are characteristic to your style then again.

great stuff

Don´t get me wrong, but I think Pascal could post a simple box and would immediately get plugged on the front page...;)

Which doesn´t mean that this pic doesn´t deserve it. Anyway.

I generally like the picture although I don´t like the girl´s facial expression. Faces and especially eyes are always a focus in a picture.. so I believe the whole picture would become a lot better if her expression had more emotion. Sadness, hatred, relieve... something like that!

Other than that, it reminds me of your "gladiator" pascal! Similar colors and textures, similar expression and modeling. You seem to follow your own style, which is good! I think I would have recognized this picture as one of yours even without reading your name.

Good work!

thx for the feedbacks and critics, here is a little update and now final version, corrected some anatomy and contrasts.. Time for a new pict now ;)
@todd en: you're right, if modelling is the good part of the job for you (it is for me too ;) ) you wont need to buy models.. but for peopple that are more in animation field, it could be interesting to have a good character for a decent price ;)

Im jealous :)

We always waiting for your next picture! There is something about it, I dont what , but this is great work.

J aime beaucoup la maniere que tu design tes personnages. Un peu imparfait et ca les démarques de tout ce qu'on peut voir sur le net.

T'aimerais pas animer tout ca un jour? surtout elle et le gladiateur :).

Hey there!

Excellent work! I love it!

Maybe a little suggestion, it might be interesting to have a light outlining the hairs on the back of her head, it would detach the hair from the background.

Anyways...

How long did you take do model and render this?

rmsmedia
05-27-2004, 06:06 PM
I've been a fan of your work for a long time now, this piece doesn't let me down at all...

two things, I agree with the large package deal...but more importantly I feel like the line of action in the smoke combined with the silohette of the robot behind the gun make that area a little grey in her silohette...maybe pull the smoke back behind the robot just a little so the gun's protrusion from the robot is a little more clear...

beyond that nothing but applause

Then tell me if you want to buy the girl, the armored suit or both..

I wasn't going to post since everyone else has but... This is amazing work, has a warm, painterly style.

I would have liked to see a few lights on the robot itself, would have maybe provided some key and rim lighting on the girl.

Great job! Gotta get back to mopping.

it seems like she's going to get a new hair style with her hairdryer on the hand ...

in other words the img it looks a little bit static compared to the 'movements' of the hairs.... or if you want... that staticness seems not preceded by any actions... high level quality but it remains to me not so inspirational as other works from you.:surprised

maybe you just made it to sold the models on turbosquid...:hmm:

sorry you feel it that way francescaluce , but you see , actually im planning to find a way to start work for myself and stop work for another person (companies and others) it's just a first attempt to try to find a god balance between passion and.. living from my passion ;) Artists should not be ashamed to put a price on their work ;) hope you'll understand...

francescaluce
05-31-2004, 12:54 AM
Artists should not be ashamed to put a price on their work
I worked years as an art directory for a gallery... is not that the problem, pascal... but it's not so elegant use directly cgtalk for your purpose... though if they're of the best kind... or if you want... you can do for sure what you want... but not to ask me to understand. ;)

but don't get me wrong for artist like you.. and to leave they free to create... should be found a special kind of foundation.

 good luck and all my best wishes for your new incoming personal career.
