I agree, though perhaps not so harshly.
It looks like your original sketch has suffered badly from resampling (increasing in size). It is also destroyed by that strong blue.
As a general rule, photoshop bevel and lens flare effects are tacky, and anyone can spot them a mile away. My best advice to you would be to have more confidence in your drawing, and try to subtly compliment it.
Also Photoshop filters may be fun, but they are to be used sparingly!

hey thanks for the critiques I agree with your thoughts I did this about 3 years ago when I was first learning
I like it for what it represents
but somtimes they are helpfull to gain effect and move the viewers point of view.

They're are much better ways to dirrect the viewers gaze. Composition, depth, line weight and perspective. There are very few (if any) 'quick fixes' in drawing, and any quick and easy methods usually lead to substandard results.
Why not post some current stuff?
