View Full Version : Interior: Diner
otacon 05-24-2004, 02:02 AM A new scene i just finished up. The idea was to create a scene in a diner late at night. Maybe a trucker has just had some coffee....Total time for modeling, texturing and lighting was about 3 days. Lightwave 7.5. Tell me what you think!:D

Beautiful. I'd like it if the napkin-holder didn't reflect the table as much, however. I think it's a bit distracting.

That and they warp like a fisheye lens. It would reflect that much, but not nearly as perfectly.

very nice scene otacon. I agree that the reflection in the napkin holder should be warped a little. For some reason the mustang pic in the upper right looks a little off, like it doesn't belong. Anwho, great lighting and materials, even got some change on the table, nice(i think thats what that is).

Nice :-)
I think it's not dark enough under the table (particularly the floor and wall, the shadow on the seats looks fine), and the mustang picture might be slightly squished (not wide enough)
Very nice, I like it! Reminds me of some restaurants back home in Louisiana! thanks for happy memories tonight! :)

Thanks. The napkin holder has a little bit of warping going on but probably not enough. And too much reflection is what a lot of people have been saying. That one picture does look kinda stretched. Yea, that is change on the table.:D

Very nice scene, I love the colors you used and the atmosphere. One thing that's bothering me is that there are no labels on the ketchup and mustard. It's a minor thing though:) And yeah the car-image needs some scaling.
Good work!

looks mighty fine, but the saucer that the cup sits on looks a bit flat on the right side, or at least the balance is off. could be the render...
nice work though!

Rivendale- usually those kind of containers don't have labels
Sweet. I don't know how to describe this feeling but just looking your scene made me happy :)

Well ok, I wasn't around in the 60's USA so I guess that could be so. ;) It would be a nice detail though. Or maybe they could have just slapped on some tape there and written with a marker. Any way it's still a great scene.

Have to agree with the shadows under the table and the napkin holder's perfect reflection. To add to that, I've never been in a diner and sat at a booth where the seats didn't have some sort of rips in the surface...possibly with some of the stuffing showing through. Just an idea to break up the sterility in the scene.
Oh, and I just noticed the picture of the car in the upper right looked squashed--it's aspect ratio looks out of whack.

Thanks. Good idea with the seat rips.
Okan: Glad you liked it!

They don't label those in 00's USA either :) Red is ketchup, yellow is mustard, and if they have one, white is mayo.
My complaint is that the saucer is too thin and flat..

Heres another more dynamic angle so you can see the stuff on the table.
