Art Director

Core Job Responsibilities:

* Responsible for the overseeing the creation and implementation of all graphics for one or more LIFE Games titles.
* Manages a team of several artists; UI designers, and 3D artists as well as artists at external vendors.
* Schedules all graphics work including UI, 3D Graphics, Set Up art, Demo art, and any other art created in LIFE.
* Works cooperatively with Program Management to define the graphics needs for a title and then delivers graphics through internal or external means.
* Conducts quality review of graphics.
* Leads an art team, communicates with all members of the project team, directs graphics of outside companies.
* Works with Program Managers to design functionality of interface elements and components.
* Provides detailed feature designs for product specifications.
* Creates artwork to establish the Look and Feel of a product.
* Provides direction for internal and external artists for all graphics created for a product.
* Also includes directing some audio creative concepts.
* Provides direction for user interface to satisfy functional needs of product.
* Brings innovative and creative ideas to the group and designs prototypes for product specifications.
* Assists in establishing design and production processes.
* Investigates and evaluates new tools, techniques, directions, trends and competitive products.
* Assists in coordinating usability efforts.

Recommended Qualifications:
* The ideal candidate has knowledge of several kinds of graphics applications, including 3D graphics.
* The primary function of this role is not to be the art expert in each kind of art required for a product, but to have a working knowledge of the applications that create each kind of art and be able to lead the team in visual design, creativity, and morale.
B.F.A. in Graphic Design or Industrial Design, B.A. in Architecture or related job experience required.
* Three years minimum professional experience required.
* Must be highly micro-computer literate in multiple platforms: Windows and Mac required, UNIX a plus. And in various software packages; SoftImage 3D, Alias Wavefront, 3D Studio Max or other high end 3D package, Adobe Photoshop, Equalibrium Debabalizer, Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia FreeHand.
* Knowledge of multimedia software is a plus (Adobe Premiere, Macromedia Director).
* Experience with audio aspects of multimedia content creation a plus.
* Must have excellent communications skills.
* Team membership and leadership qualities required.
* Must be able to communicate visual ideas to artists, developers, and Program Managers.
