Done in 3DSMAX with a caustic projector map on the light source and a volume light for the streaks in the water.

I needs a little correction in textures, It seems to be to new, put some stickers and numbers, oxide, scratches.... The image has a lot of potential, put more underwater elements like fishes, plants, and stuff like that

Very good....
I think at this stage it looks great and is actually a strong base to work on the last .5% (the hardest part) to *really* make this image great. --- There is some good color here.

I like the colors but it looks too new, put some dirt, or stickers, on the textures.
Also the Scene would look great with more underwater elements, coral, fishes, 'cause those stones are too clean too.
The model is pretty CoOL
You could add some element behind the camera too so they would be reflected on the head :) .
But anyway, good image.

cool model

here are my suggestions.

After spending a good amount of time SCUBA diving I can tell you a couple of things with your scene.

1- How big your power suit is supposed to be? 6 inches???
You won't see God rays or caustics the way shown in your scene after around 35 to 40 ft. after that caustics and God rays won't be that strong (possibly non-existent); even on the sunniest day!!!

look at my movie which I was using for bubble reference (yes I am there, so is my wife, the one with the camera)

SCUBA clip There are sharks here!!! (http://www.nievesdesign.com/angelsmovies/shark%20bubbles.mov)

We were at 45 to 50 ft... no God rays or caustics...

I have another clip that we shot when some dolphins showed by coincidence during a SCUBA trip... you can see some caustics there very close to the surface and caustics are very slight.

I can post that if requested...

2- I disagree with the other posters regarding dirty it up... to some extent... it does need some texturing, diffuse mapping specular etc. BUT underwater gear usually is being pampered by their owners do to the expense to replace gear.

Just look at the National Geographic documentaries using underwater rovers and that sort of machines... SPOTLESS!!!! Salt water is VERY destructive and equipment has to be well kept or else.

Now, it ALWAYS depends what you intent to do with the model and animation... If the Suit has seen many battles or lots of work then it won't be spotless, right?

Hopefully I helped you improve your scene.

i beg to differ about one more leg... things balance better on a tripod than with 4 legs... like a chair.... take a 4 legged chair and shorten one of the legs... it wobbles... now take a 3 legged chair and shorten 1 leg slightly... it doesn't wobble. 3 legs is good.
