Hi, everyone. I have rerendered my Balcony Scene after changed some lighting setups. And worked it in Photoshop. Here is the result:

hi,
i think you should atenuate the shadow, and put more strategically the light source, actually it's like an interior lightning..
And the background image is not very good quality.

go work :D

man.. it lacks basic light setup. :hmm:

first of all decide for the overall of your light... from where it comes from the main light(?)... as for balcony... probably from the outside... so make a strong key light that comes from the outside env.. give it an accentuated shadow... then create some lights to fill the penumbra areas of your objs to get not totally black(prob from the interior of the house)... then consider contact shadows...>> where the objs 'touch' the ground or are close to other objs... for this make a big area light on the top.. or use occlusion or contact shadow shaders... then add lights to add or subtract 'light' and create a more reliable env.

When you have the basic basic light rig.. start to tweak the whole again together with your mats properties.

hope it helps...

Francescaluce,

Thanks so much for your comments/suggestions. I was wondering what is wrong with the image myself (it looks flat) because I do not have a clear idea how to tackle the lighting task systematically and in an organised way. Your steps certainly will help me in a very big way. Thanks a lot.

...need to get back to work. :-)
