View Full Version : Modeling Hair

Hi all... first post from me to this forum. I am a relative beginner with Maya and have just finished modeling my first head. I am quite happy with it, however... it is bald. I have seen models where the hair appears to be nurbs patches layered over each other, and models where the head seems to be covered with extruded polygons.

Despite this I have never seen a tutorial on how to create this type of surface. Can anyone point me towards a helpful site? I really don't want to use Maya's built in hair. I was thinking of texture mapping it and doing more "toony" styled hair in Photoshop.

Thanks in advance for any help.

one of Maya 6's new features is Maya Hair, its similar to Maya Fur, and Maya fluids, its that kind of addon, its actually pretty cool. It works off of dynamic curves, with self collisions, thus making it more useful than just for creating hair! :D

but sorry, I have no answer to your question paul, I'm not to good when it comes to dynamics, I'm still learning myself!
