:surprised
..... ummmm what do you mean?
at a guess i would select the point, hit t for move, then n for numeric, then type in how much and on what axis.

I was skimming through the IL 7 book with respect to Organic Modeling and in there it says select move, and in top view move the points down a few mm, this is while the points are selcted in all viewports, thats what I mean
More specifialy, I am refering to the part about modeling the lips

Huh?
Just select the points, press 't' to activate Move tool, steer the mouse cursor over to the Top viewport (probably you TopLeft one) and hold left (or right) mouse button to move.

When you move a point in a viewport, you're never really moving it in just that viewport, as the point exists in 3D space. Moving it in a viewport simply constrains your movement to two axis.
Using the numeric panel simply gives you the ability to type in the exact amount you want to move.
You can achieve the exact same effect by moving the point with your mouse. Just look to the lower left corner of Modeler and you'll see the "Offset" info telling you how much the point is being moved.
A little tip I learned here earlier is that if you have a three button mouse or a mouse with a wheel in the center (standard Microsoft wheel button mouse), you can use that to constrain your movements to a single axis. Simply select your point, press the "t" key, and click the middle mouse button. Then drag either up/down or left/right. Your movement will be locked along that axis.
Hope this helps!

I understand this and that is precisely why I was confused ... I thought Dan only wanted the points to move in Top view while staying put everywhere else
