Hi everyone, i've finally finished my final major project of my final year at uni. Its a set of game heros for a game i made up called Legacy of Evil, basicly the game would be set over three eras, with each character being the hero of that world.

Heres the poster for it and the final animation/trailer, i feel the final trailer is a little rough around the edges, especially some parts of the environments, but i've only had a few weeks to make the whole project.

All characters are under 6,000 tri's and have one 1024x1024 texture map.

I will upload more detailed pics of each character soon.

thanks

Sam

Good for a few weeks work.

The one thing I thought of while watching the animation was that there is nothing to tie all of the separate periods together. What it needs is the evil element, the adversary. I presume it would be the same bad guy through each of the time zones?

A really cool enemy would add a lot to it.

Sam.

My only crit is with your marine. He couldn't bend his leg like that because of the armour covering his leg and groin area.

This prolly dosen't matter for a game character, it's just a nit pick.

Nice texture work!

You said you are finished but it seems to me that the animation lacks animation, for example when the chick is ready with the gun and runs off, you miss all the good parts, I was expecting to at least see her run with guns blazing but then the camera went down and I was dissapointed. I see you had only a few weeks to do this so you may already have disregaurded those issues due to time constraints, but I would definately put some extra time into it before showing to potential employers/clients. It looks like you have the skills to take this much farther and polish it up.

thanks for the comments guys,

yeah the animation was always to be just a glorified spin-round, i'm not interested in animation so i kept it to a minimum, the focus was always modelling and texturing.

my skinning skills really suck so, thats why the characters look weird when there posed. I also think i need to practice modelling joints better too, but i'm sure some one who can rig/skin well would do a better job.

I'm sorry the animtions not the most-action packed piece ever, but without spending ages on the animtion it was always gonna be a difficult to create the action.

cheers

I guess that your going to try and get into the game industry when you finish college?

yep, TRY that is.

i'll post up some nice renders of the characters soon, they do them more justice than the video does.

I've just been looking at your website, you've got some very nice stuff up there.

Your citizen X models looked very good. :D

I think you should concentrate on one of the 3 models from your game design and really polish it up. Maybe Greg? I think that with a bit more work he could look stunning.

Good luck with the job search!

cheers gout, yeah i'm working on my portfolio and showreel at the moment. theres alot of other things i want to get started on, but i would also like to polish off the models, i was thinking of making some more advanced versions of greg, with armour and different weapons/skins to show how he would develop in the game.

thanks

Hey Sam! Congrats on finishing up your time at the Uni! Your work is looking pretty good so far - in particular, your environmental stuff as well as your older vehicle work.

So, have you started job searching yet? Are you only looking over there or you planning on applying to companies in the US as well? I wish you the best of luck and let me know if you ever have any questions or whatever.

the material you used for your piece is rather appropriated, you are aware that others have intellectual property rights to it, right?
it would be interesting to see what you can imagine.

DJ_Lizard: thanks man, yeah i know his face looks a bit like shreks, but it wasnt my intetion, i think its the nose.

Eric22: Hi eric, yes i am about to start looking for work, i have my eye on a few uk companies to apply for, i'm just putting the finishing touches to my showreel and hope to have it finished in a week. Thanks for all you help and advice so far, i hope it dosnt take me too long to find a job, i'm not interested in the US at the moment (and i'll have to wait until they change their "4yr degree and 5years exp" attitude to working in the US, damn bush) but maybe in the future.

I'm really glad you got a job though, i hope its going well, cant wait to see what you've been working on.

Hillartsympho : Ay? I know the marines a big cliche, hes basicly a combination of a Warhammer 40k spacemarine and Master Chief from Halo, and the gun is a COMPLETE rip-off of a spacemarine bolter. but other than that there all my own design, i think i should of taken the designs further and i will do so with my future projects, but i think you are overeacting.

thanks

Sam

i dont know what Hunter the Reckoning is and i've already said that greg looks rather like shrek. I think i relied too much on him as reference for the head.
