Wow, I've scored another nil points!

Seriously, no one got anything to offer on this? I'd love to now what people think, should I keep up with the digital painting or am I fooling myself? As ever, ANY comment or critique welcomely received on this, you really can say what you like about this, I just wanna learn!

i think it looks really good, maybe its just the subject i dunno.
The ear seems a bit oddly shaped,
and the shading in the ear and neck there seem to get too greyish/blackish, need to keep the fleshy hue in it.

and i dont know what it is, but the background really takes away from the work, cant put my finger on it.

but all in all good execution, and maybe try working the clothing a bit more, some tone and texture maybe

thanks for the feedback dude, very much appreciated and useful too - interesting about the background, hadn't thought of that at all, just kinda reproduced it from the photo,. but looking at it afresh it does look very strange, like she's cut-n-pated on to it. And yeah the ear, less said about taht the better, that's one area I spent a lot longer on in my new paiting, still not great but getting better.
Reading your comments and looking again at the picture I think one of the problems is that I wasn't clear what I was trying to acheieve with the image, it's not photorealistic but it's making use of NOT being photo realistic, if you get what I mean. The piece I'm working on at the moment is much more PR, but I think I might try a more artistic approach after that one, try to convey a mood or feeling perhaps with the picture, the more I look at this one the colder it seems, I think because it's not sure what it wants to be - a reproduction study or a painting.

Good: The colours worked out quite good
Bad: the facial features are displaced, mouth is at the wrong place and the eye left on the picture is smaller than the other one

It' okay not to go for photorealism that's overrated anyway :P
But do watch your anatomy, there are some good books on www.fineart.sk about that :)

thanks jawine, taken your ideas on board and ordered some anatomy references and guides from the library, aimed at artists they should help me develop those skills. I think I'm starting to agree with you over the photo-realism too, if I want a photo I should just use my camera!
