I have been lurking in this board for quite a while now. ;)
I am in the process of learning After Effects and progressing quite nicely. While working through a tutorial I became compleatly stumped and was wondering if I can get some help on figuring out exacly what to do.

It deals with creating gridlines in Photoshop and importing them into AE as a 3d layer and using them as a proxy to define the path of an effect. I guess my problem is my lack of knowledge of proxies and also the translation of the tutorial.
Step four is the one that is really throwing my for a loop...
"Grid" is Replaced to "Fractal"
Select the Layer of a Grid Material.
It replaces for the Fractal Material of STEP3.
Pushing the "Option Key (Mac)".
From the Fractal Composition in a Project Window,
Drag and Drop to the Layer of Grid in Timeline Window.
You can Replace the Materials.
Select Layer mode to "Add".
