View Full Version : edges pixelation
Hitesh 05-17-2004, 12:42 PM hiii all
i m doing a logo animation in film size.. (1800 x 1536)
i m using 3ds max for the animation and after effect 5.5 for compositing..
when i see the output in full resolution that is in 1800 x 1536 in after effect in gets pixelated on the edges
i have put the pixel aspect correction on in the after effects.
i don't think that its max's problem b'coz even basic text from after effect has the same problem..
plz help

Not sure I understand your problem correctly, but are you using the correct settings for the alpha matte? Try setting it to "pre-multiply", I think "straight" is set as default.
If that's not what was wrong then perhaps post a pic so we can see exactly what's the matter...

Sorry if you already know this but...have you toggled the high quality mode on?
There's a little three pixel diagonal icon in the timeline for each layer. Toggle between low qulaity preview and high quality finishing.

and i have also set the alpha setting to pre-multiplied and this is a part of my final frame
see the edge of the white text its the basic text from after effect which is also pixelated
sorry i m showing only the problem area as the file is too big..

Are you using eps files? if so, try checking 'continiously rasterize' on your layer

not eps
i m using tga file format
You have read this when you turned the Pixel Aspect Correction on right?

Or the problem persists with the Pixel Aspect Correction turned off?

plzz help.. The Pixel Aspect Correction we're talking about is only for preview purposes, as the image diogo girondi posted clearly states. The quality of the preview is not the same as the final render obviously, hence you may get some pixelisation or other artifacts.
So does the pixelisation occur in the final renders or only in the AE window?

pixelisation also occurs in final render
i have also opened the final rendered frame in photoshop CS and checked but it occurs..

Do check your render settings. Have u turned on 'Best' and 'Full Rez.' Dunno if that might be the issue. I guess you are viewing the image at full rez in the composition window. Sometimes u might get stuck wondering why it looks pixellated and its because you've zoomed in or at half rez. Dunno if this will make a difference but check out 'degradation overide' or something like that in the preferences. Might help.

Deano
