Nice model! I am impressed.

- You've got very clean geometry.
- The running board on the bottom seems a little too reflective.
- Also the grey breaks on the second image look a little out of place.
- Looks like you are missing the passenger seat. But then again, you could just duplicate the driver seat.

I too would like to see some more info on how you created the model. I didn't see this the first time around. Wish I had. (sorry your post got lost.) Fantastic job.

This is a good model. Maybe give it an environment that it could reflect on and it would be a bit more realistic.

Nicely done car.

is one of those outer taillights supposed to be red and one grey?

I don't usually like cars that much, but sometimes there's a really nice one. Like this.

Nice car(s), they look very good. Is that an ortho view in the first render, the perspective looks a little odd. Only other thing I can see to crit is the tire tread, IMO it would look better modeled. Nice work:beer:

Ok here are some model stats, history & nfo.

History:

It was made whilst I was modelling PS spec Lamborghini’s for Rage, most of it was done in my spare time and some whilst at work, it was gonna be used in promo and marketing campaigns for all Rages Lamborghini releases.
Up until about 3 weeks ago it had been sat on a disk since Rage Games went under in 2003 waiting to have the back finished. It was very hard to pick up the file after all that time but the back of this car is just as stylish as the front and having completed 80% in 2003 felt that with a little effort the model could be fully completed.

About:
It was originally made from patches but was collapsed to an editable mesh once I was happy with the overall shape, then the finer details such as seams and bevelled edges were added.
It was initially stared in max 4.1 and rendered using brazil r/s, reference was gathered from lambocars.com and a few bits from Lamborghini, My studio manager at the time suggested orange and that’s stuck although there is a black version on the splutterfish gallery. The model as with most of my non game models is designed specifically for very high detail Hi resolution print work.

Stats:
Per car
Verts 140000 approx
Faces 233000 approx
40mb of uncompressed .tga textures

Rendering:
1 Brazil omni light
2 Brazil area lights
Brazil Global Illumination

The scene featuring both full cars at the posted resolution takes just under 2 hrs to render, there is a lot of room for improvement on these times as there has been no exclusion/optimisation of objects in the ray trace engine.

Hardware:
The PC I initially created it on was a Pentium3 866 with 256mb of ram but the work you see now was finished on a 2600xp athlon with 512mb of ram.

And finaly:
Thanks again for talking and interest in the thread, I was a bit confused when I couldn’t find the first one(along with my stars!!), but all became clear with the announcement, and hopefully all those people who lost what they posted will get back on track, get posting and not let the actions of a selfish few spoil things!!!

I'd love to see some closeups of the bevels. I'm having trouble with that type of detail work in my meshes especially when I meshmooth. Any tips/tricks would be appreciated.

How exactly did you model and shade the taillights? did you use a bumpmap for the glass for example? Creating lights is not that difficult but I find creating convincing (colored) lights much more difficult. e.g. signal- and taillights.

Hi!

Your shaders are awesome, but there's something wrong with the scale of the model. The diablo is not so thin in real life.

heres a big close up of the tail, and some beveled edges

http://www.iconized.com/lam/gtrs_vclose.jpg

the mesh isnt made from ediable smoothable polys so there
is no cage to show, but below shows how to make bevels using edaible ploys

http://www.iconized.com/lam/bevel.gif

here is how the light shader works, its generated procedurally
and I think that although Im using max this will be available
in most good 3d apps, this method is also used to generate
the bump map

http://www.iconized.com/lam/mat.gif

hope this has answered a few questions and thanks once
agian for the +ve commnets they are all very much appreciate!!

Nice modeling... really good rendering.

I have to say though - i hate that spoiler you've put on the back. It reminds me of the stuff that teenagers stick on the back of a Civic in order to somehow make the car look like it isn't a Civic. ;)

Ooooooh.... Shat. Okay thanks. Yeah that helps a lot. So you're not really beveling the edge, you're just adding 2 more cuts. What I tried was selecting all the edges and hitting the bevel button. This moves the actual corner apart in the direction of the adjoining faces. I like your method better because nothing moves.

I gotta try it. *Hurries up and abandons Lancia Delta model*

Bla999 ,
im working on ths chick called Chloe (http://www.iconized.com/wip.htm) at the mo hope u like, Ive just given her some underwear, also plan to do some nice brazil renders with the mucielago mesh.

goldeneye,
hope this is usefull It isnt the bevel tool, but allows alittle more control over the style of bevel ur trying to create, look forward to seeing how u get on with this :)
