A friend and I finished our first animation in January and weve just got it posted on the web. Ive posted in most of the 3D forums I could find so far and Id really like to hear some feedback. The whole thing took us 11 about months and we had to learn everything as we went.

Thanks for looking.

Learned as you went along?:applause: Great job! The first one is the killer...I know from experience. My first one...:annoyed: ...but learned alot. I commend both of you because for the endless hours of work you put into it.

Next, my personal opinion...take it with a grain of salt, as it is only my opinion, and I might not know squat...If you are using this to try and land a job, I would shorten it a bit...like maybe to 4 min (including credits). I almost turned it off after the first 2 min, because it was just dragging...but left it on cause I know what the doing the "first" one is like. The music was an absolute piece of art... loved it, but I think it made the 11 min film seem like 30 min. It is definitely something I could sit and ponder "the meaning of life" to. It was a beautiful piece. However, giving the film a more spicey, suspenseful edge would have added a nice touch (at 4 min).Very, very nice job building the architecture...looked very cool and must have taken some time. The "main guy" talking,...almost sent me to Zzzzz...Sounded like he was reading right from the script, lacked passion and feeling...he did a nice job though. Animation was good...Textures were very good...Camera shots were excellent:thumbsup:And you did a great job lighting...There was about a 30 sec spot, that made me think to myself, "cool", when there was a "flashback" thing going on. Nice job:thumbsup:

I better stop babbling...so you dont get pissed. But setting that aside, you guys did a wonderful job for your first go around!!!

I've done 3 cinematics since I landed a job...each one has gotten better than the before it. You can find my latest cinematic at...

Check it out and let me know what you think...Again, nice going and I look forward to seeing the next one!!!

Thanks for the praise and the crits! Im not offended in the least. Actually most of them I agree with whole heartedly. Its hard to judge your own work in the middle of working on it. Now that Ive had time away from it I can look at it mor objectively.

This wasnt intended to get us a job or anything other than to see if we could do it. One of the main things I learned (aside from techinical 3D issues) is to work from a storyboard! We had a general plot idea and followed it pretty close but some scenes dragged way too long and otheres went by a little too quickly for my liking.

As for the narrator, I wanted him to have a kind of despondant sound (him being dead and depressed and all) but I dont think I quite got the feeling I was looking for. Of course when you rely on your buddies for actors, you kind of have to take what you can get.

Thanks again, Im going to take a look at your movies now!

I think it's great work. ok, it's not very thrilling or something but it's definately a piece of art and the story is great. and the end is perfect I think!
keep it up! this short was definately worth the work!

I know how it goes when you rely on buddies. When I did my first demo, I let my buddy take care of the sound editing. He had the tools, and I had no experience with sound. I knew he would do a great job. When I got the tape, I was impressed with what he had done...that is until I got to the part of the demo where these spaceships exploded. Oh, how I was expecting to hear some cool explosions, what I heard, was the sound of breaking glass. He was excited as he said, "I recorded this sound myself just buy dropping some glass bottles on the floor of my garage, ain't it cool?" I praised him for it. yet inside was just shaking my head. Now, when I look back at it, the sound effects were much better than the reel itself...hehe. Life is funny.

Again, nice job...

Thanks again for the honest crits you guys. I got kind of tired of hearing how great it was from friends and family, especially when you know they might think otherwise or just not know any better :).
