View Full Version : My character into UT
Nicool 05-14-2004, 05:54 PM Hye,
Overviewing a tutorial (don't remember where :( ) I got the impression that it is possible to have a char I have modeled/texturized into UT simply by naming the body parts so as to be merged with existing animation data... You know waht I mean? Have you got more informations, articles, links... ? How to?
p.s. And if I remember right, the UT game engine has a bones support?, so naming bones with body parts, it could work !

Depends on what 3d app you're using. I know that UnrealED has a couple different file formats that you can import into it. But, I'm sorting learning it myself, so I'm not sure if you just need a mesh, or if you have to have a information file with it or what. Check polycount, they have some good tut's there.

Thanks for the link Deadalus. The tutorial I wrote is fairly long, but it's staright forward. Getting stuff into UT is not though at all, just have to make sure you organize all your stuff. The technical jargon messes most people up.

Hi, I was eavesdropping on this thread. hehe. I've actually got most of UnrealED figured out except for one thing I can't figure out how to do if anyone of you guys knows.
How do you get moving mesh animations into UNREAL ED, you know, like a piston pumping, or some pulsating walls? I know it has something to do with editing the Shark.U file I think.
I can do static meshes no prob, and simple movers, but animated moving objects?
Using MAyA 5
THanks
