Nice clothe's texture and cool atmosphere but, where is the monk?, I can't see his face. It would be nice to see the wireframe.
Sorry for my English.

For all we know that could be Richard Simmons. At least make his face a little bit visible. Cool image nontheless.

make his nose mouth and chin a little lighter, like the Emperor from my favorite movie series of all time!!!!!!
and NO, i'm not talking about Big Trouble in Little China.

The background is very "Gigeresque" -If you know what I'm talking about.
i think you should make it more like your sketch show some features but hide most of the face with shadow. it kinda looks like you cheaped out now. colours & textures are cool.

I like it a lot especially the background, although I think it shouldbe entitled death rather than monk

ok here is my critique:
the composition is really bad , putting the character in the dead center makes it visually boring. The background looks like a jpeg mapped on a plane , it looks flat.
i would recommend putting some mockup face and lighting it from under if you want to give a creepy look.
good luck.
I must say that is very boring. I agree with sheep. More is needed than just a hood. A fallof mapped mesh face inside the hood would give it a gostly effect while still retaining the atmosphere, but it would have to be your face model not someone elses.
