Hi all,

Just received my student license XSI 3.5 today. I'm pretty excited about it, but can't use it just yet because I have to do the license key request thing. The silly SPM server thing seems like it's a pain to set up compared to 3ds max.

I thought that I was getting version 4.0 based on what's on this page:

http://www.softimage.com/Products/Xsi/v4/educational/student-teacher.asp

...but it's definitely version 3.5. Should I return the software and re-purchase it to get version 4.0 or is there an upgrade path? I suppose that I don't *need* to play with XSI for a while yet. Grumble. :)

Have already contacted the Softimage store about this via email, was just wondering if anyone else ran into version trouble.

Thanks!

when you select the educational version in the softimage store, it says the following:

Please Note: Upon purchase you will receive the following items: a dongle, XSI v.3.5 CD kit and setup & licensing instructions. You can request your XSI Advanced Academic v.3.5 license now and be added to the list of customers qualifying for the update when XSI v.4.0 is released. Softimage will ship a software upgrade package for XSI v.4.0 and you will have download access. Your new license file (if your XSI v.3.5 license was activated) will also be available for download at www.softimage.com/licenselookup

so everything's fine with your order. you'll be able to upgrade to version 4.0 as soon as it's available.

cheers,

Ah, many thanks. I must have missed that in my first time through.
