Hey everyone... So i'm making this animation right...

The beginning has thunderous skies, lightning then the cluods begin to seperate the camera pans down to a sign that is pointing in one direction saying "This way to the castle"... The sign is in a field of Grass... now I tried doing a tutorial I found on the web but when I create the grass the finished product doesnt look like what I see in the tutorial there are way too many bald spots on the field...
Can anyone help me?

Thanks in Advance

Here's the catch... no plug ins... i am broke... most of my $$ has gone to 3ds max software and my apartment... poor guy cant even eat:cry:

There is a particle flow hair tutorial thread in this forum (just scroll down). It can be used for grass as well.

or you can mix different methods to get a nice look. first scatter some grass over the landscape mesh. in phase two you "paint" 3d objects over the surface to give it a better look (pathways have some other plants on side, around trees are bushes etc)

the script for this you can find down at www.scriptspot.com
its called Max Freehand Tools (http://www.scriptspot.com/download.asp?ID=896&inf=1)
