I have just received a Worm Alert from my ISP and I have attached the info link which may be helpful to some of you.

Trend Micro - Worm Alert. (http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM_SASSER.A)

Sorry mods I've posted this in wrong forum.

Not another virus / worm!

You forgot to mention that this thing only infects PCs running Microsoft Windows. This applies to just about every virus and worm out there. Windows has more worms than a puppy that hasn't been vaccinated!

Those who are running UNIX based operating systems, such as Linux, Irix & Mac OS X are immune from this trouble.

I got hit by it this weekend.
And it was a pain to get rid of it.

Aparently it check for systems that lack certain security patches
and it UPLOADS ITSELF on your machine, even on a dialup connection.

To get rid of it
go here

http://www.symantec.com/index.htm

and for more info on it go here:

PS I wonder who are the bastards who write this crap?
What in the name of all that is holy do they get from it?

I got hit by it this weekend too. I can't even get on the internet for some reason. (I'm at work now, don't ask). I'll check out symantec's fix right now. Thanks everyone.

i'm sooo tired of microsoft/ windows.

And I'm sooooo tired of people who don't keep their Windows/antivirus software updated or bother running firewall software complaining about getting worms/virii. ;) (not directed at you Roberto)
Implicit, you got 2 more OS solutions to go to, since you are so tired of Microsoft, why don't you give them a go.

yes i have a firewall up and running, i only for a second shut it down and got that bastard.

yes i would so love to go all linux, but if you also do motiongraphics and need tools like after effects (damn adobe mofos, still no photoshop, illustrator and aefx for linux!) its not possible. and i can't go mac, because i use xsi.

life can be complicated sometimes.

If Linux was dominant *it* would be having these problems and some jerks would be posting 'haha, toldya, see you should have bought a Mac or Windows!' The problem here isn't that we poor idiots haven't seen the Linux-light yet, but the devil-spawn that spend years of their worthless lives creating these things.

I never had any problems with worms etc. on my computer but it seems most of my friends does and they calling me for advice. I alway tell them to turn on the automatic Windows updates and get a decent firewall but they just dont listen. Its like talking to babys. Last weekend one of them called me at 2 am just to tell me that he had a worm and dont knew what to do ! So i searched the net for a removal tool even i dont had any problems :) ! What really annoys me btw are spam posts ! Oh i hate them ! I would send all spam mailer to the death chamber if i could, god damnit !!

My butt got bit by this worm on the weekend too,

to access the internet while you have it, in windows task manager processes... end any process that begins with a number or ends with up.exe. or go to run and type in shutdown /a

don't know if this'll help anyone or if i'm stated the obvious.
