Sup everyone,

First off, I'm a rookie when it comes to dynamics

I'm having a problem with interpenetration. I'm creating a explosion and with some debris.
I've first made the debris as active rigid body. also I created a ground plane that acts as a passive rigid body. Now, the problem is that some of the debris bounces on the ground plane for a few frames then falls through??

I've tryed reversing the normal of the ground plane, but it's still giving me the problem of interpenetration.

Try increasing the resolution of your collision plane. That will likely fix it. Interpenetration is also often caused by objects with a velocity that is too high and it passes from one side of the object to the other before Maya can keep up with the calculations and doesn't realize it should have collided. If it's AFTER a few bounces then it doesn't sound like that's the case, but it is something to be aware of anyhow.

go into the slover an increase the step size that should give more time for maya to calculate

Not in front of maya but i think this is it
solvers/edit oversampling and increase oversampling

or decrease the turbulance/gravity whatever fields are effecting
the object that is exploding at the point of explosion.

also check your normals

Will upping the values mentioned above also prevent shards becoming distorted? I have an exploding wall that is affected by the fields just fine but after a bounce or two become warped, stretched or distotred.
