Blender 2.33 has just been released, with the most significant addition being the return of the realtime (game) engine in an open source form. Due to licensing issues, the realtime engine had to be left out when Blender became open source, but now after a long wait it's back, enabling users to create interactive content without programming.

* New, more powerful inbuilt procedural textures

I think that this is good sign as to the direction in which the Blender project is heading. The new uv editing tools make working with uv's in Blender better than ever. I can't wait until the coders implement the new uv mapping tech that we have been playing with in Tuhopuu. The new materials are a major plus. And the AO lighting or "dirt mapping" is great.

Another notch in 3d history.

The other day we got a new member over at elysiun.com who is a pro coder who works with cad code. I think that as Blender moves along many more coders with 3d software science backgrounds will be attracted to Blender with each great Blender release like Blender 2.33.

Blend on!
