When I started thinking about the Machineflesh I wondered about purpose of implementing machine into humanís body. Some may call it a sober look on the matter :) Why would people insert some steel into the body except looking very funky and being more dangerous and evil?
..here is one of my visions:
The Cure for Cancer Sculpture - a gigantic metal monument created to celebrate the finding the ultimate cure for cancer- a machinflesh cyborgization. Monument was designed in the memory of the hundreds cancer victims who volunteered their fading lifes for machinflesh experiments, people on wchich the technology has been tested and developed.
I see this as a very high metalic tower, consisting of hundreds of rings of human figures. Each figure represent an actual volunteer, with his,or her, experimental cyborgization.
Its a monument of the solidarity and sacrifice...
On the illustrastion would be also a several flying pads with visitors...the closest would have aboard an old lady (with left side cyborgization) with her grandson - watching some of the postument's figures...
...I wanted to show You this one .. I think its interesting but iam not sure if I will use it now for this challange... Its just a very early rought concept sketch... Still im willing to submit some more of this one real soon

Another concept sketch for the Cure for Cancer Monument. Maybe thats not my final concept but I wanted to show this...
Iam looking forward Your opinion about this kind of idea :D

Very interesting concept. I like it alot. I would like a combination between the two sketches. There are elements from both that work, so maybe a merger of the two.
One reason is that sketch one has a bit of randomness and unexpectedness to it.
The second reason is that the second sketch has a human scale factor that makes it easier to relate to.
Good Luck! Fantastic start!

I thought about space colonization this time. I wondered how the first colonists may look like...lets say the remote control machines cant handle it all by themself, and the human is crucial to begin colonization. How the fragile human will survive the space-voyage from Earth? How will he survive the lack of atmosphere, metor showers on the planet etc?
Maybe we could replace some human organs with mechanical ones that are stronger? Maybe he would be symbiotically attached to some sort of life supporting system? I think that maybe the first colonist will be more like a machine...
Here are some of my early sketches of this idea. I started with drawing some machine that the colonist could be attached to...not much but ;-) more coming soon :-D

Here is how the illustration might look like :)
05-03-2004, 10:57 PM
sketch of the first space colonist...
05-03-2004, 11:13 PM
Like the idea!!!nice sketch:thumbsup:
05-03-2004, 11:29 PM
pretty cool sketches
of the first two I liked the second one , but , like
continuumx said , maybe a combination of the ttwo
would be better with the added randomness.
The colony worker thing . .. I first thought of maybe
making it more bug like , to shield from small meteors or
maybe huge hailstones or what have you . Then thought
of how the spiderform would be way more mobile and
would easily be able to move even if it had a leg or two
missing , so maybe it's not such a big thing , and you did
have the curl-into-ball protective state.
and that spiders walking on that planet surface sketch
is a cool pic :)

another concept for my colonist... I feel like doing many more of this sketches- just to get in touch with such a machine.. I will appreciate all kind of comments - first colonists idea , drawing technique...
05-04-2004, 09:54 PM
It'll be interesting to see the purpose of every machine part implemented in the colonist's body. For defense? For high\low gravitation? For high\low temperature ? For UV or gama reys? For water\lava\snow\gas worlds? For teraforming ? Universal soldier teraformer or high-tec tourist? It's up to you. Good luck. ;)

The colonist would be locked in somekind of liquid container. Some of his organs replaced and his arms and legs integreted to somekind of machine- so he could "be the machine" ...
Morgy: Ill do my best to do so. I would like to make the machinery look logical...I know it might look little like horror fleshmachine.. but maybe someday this kind of solution will be necessary?
Some new ideas struck me... I will be uploading them soon.
thanks for the comments!

I wanna say this latest pic is so good 'cause
all the places where the machine joins the flesh
are clean and it gives a possibility to maybe cleanly
attach flesh pars back on the person , sometime in

Here are two concepts I that were deleted due to hack attack on CGtalk... :D
Here goes the sketch for the illustration of first colonists - watching over the first plants on the planet ...
Here is another concept sketch from me.
Pilot that is connected to the aircraft, symbionized to his machinised red liquid bowl- so he could "be the aircraft",be more immune to extreme grav., react instinctively throught the muscles and tendons connected the flight control machinery...
05-14-2004, 03:44 PM
and here is latest concept that I choose to focus on :
I saw this at last.
05-14-2004, 11:20 PM
its another concept sketch for my vision...
05-16-2004, 02:49 AM
Wow ! It's terrific ! But, maybe the idea of religion is a little bit too strong...Not for the message about it but..I think the idea of religion come before the idea of the challenge in your concept. Anyway, it's a strong picture !;) keep up!!
05-23-2004, 12:03 AM
I think experiencing this kind of idea might be interesting. Robot crucifed for doing some crime aginst his human master? Crucifed for calling his robot nation to raise against the humans? Crucifed by himself to demonstrate the power of his will?
He will be intregeted with the cross, the torture mechanism. I wonder should he be more human or robot like. I'm not yet sure wchich composition will do.. Now Iam thinkg about some "total one"...
I will really appreciate all kind of your comments and ideas...
05-24-2004, 04:56 PM
Yep I think religion is a bit risky too. After all Christ was crucified and some people might find it offensive. But the cure for cancer soundsterrific as a concept. Only my opinion.
05-24-2004, 10:13 PM
I hope my artwork doesnt offence anyone. I just saw this concept after few weeks of thinking and sketching and found the idea of machine messiah very interesting...sometimes I feel like IT found me.
It makes me think about what could be the machines beliefs and why was the messiah (or leader) crucified? It makes me even think - if there would be a messiah (meaning a great and wise man - not in the catholic way of thinking) - man who would share his wisdom and vision with the people... would we crucifie him?... what would happen if he was not fully human.. a machine?
I hope I have more time to share it with all of you soon...

Some really good original concepts...
Like the Cure for cancer Monument a lot - prefer the first image where the structure is a bit weirder, but prefer the perspective of the second.
Great sketches of the colonists - maybe you could incorporate some of the look in the first idea in terms of how machine and flesh combine??
i also like the last idea and you shouldn't have to worry about what people think (though don't quote me on this) as art is freedom of expression. There are some great styles used in religious paintings in the past - maybe you could incorporate some of these to add a real fresh approach to the challenge...mmmm...a futuristic madonna and child / crucifiction
I would probably go for the first concept as it's so unusual - tricky choice.
Look forward to see how things develop:thumbsup:
05-28-2004, 05:58 PM
I come back to you just to say....finally I think this is a very good idea...With a very strong potential...when i re-look at it...i imagine it finished...that could be really really great..
keep up !
05-28-2004, 05:58 PM
Its highly possible that will be illustrating the first concepts some time after this challange is finished :)
I belive in freedom of Art. In fact I really think that this messiah artwork could be real inspiration to think about... some things
..I hope it wont be labeled as a plain provocation..
I choose this messiah concept because I think it answers the challange's guestion ..
thanks for the comment and new ideas... I will be starting to work real hard for the challange in next few days :D
06-04-2004, 06:19 PM
Iam back...I guess I have to speed up in the next 2 weeks... Here is some sketch - Iam working on integrating the human with the cross... Iam not very happy with the outcome yet..
Good luck with your work, it has allot of potential, keep at it, it's looking good!
06-04-2004, 07:53 PM
nice. i was gonna do a jesus one but everyone i told the idea to hated it and thought i was the devil, i said no i am his slicker more smutty brother in law with white dress shoes, cant wait to see what comes next!!
06-04-2004, 09:05 PM
Iam not evil... Iam just creative ;)
I would be most grateful if You could tell me wchich one of my crucifiction sketches You liked the most...
more coming real soon
p.s. fortunetly my friends liked it :D
06-05-2004, 10:51 PM
I had some new, totally different, amusing, ideas lately (like cyborganized fairy catcher for goblins, cyborgizations for strongmans and else)...but I decided to do continue to create this "most painful punishment thread"... and the deadline is closing on everybody :D
Nevertheless I'm still thinking about the composition and general principles of the artwork.... There are some hard nuts to crack...
Iam pritty tired today but I had some new ideas ...
Here is one that I havent finished, because another one poped in my head...
I wanted to make the crucifiction machine and the man look more symbiotic ...his muscles strapped on torture machinery... and looking more like a bird...
06-05-2004, 10:53 PM
and here is early sketch of the newst idea- I will be working more on it tomorrow
the man and cross are melting together... the cross has some machinery that making the human live, accalerating humans growth and regeneration, piercing the humans body and making the human grow to the cross... and thats is what I call "a wierd vision"... Iam looking forward all Your opinions.
06-06-2004, 03:38 AM
keep the ideas coming bud, the more you do the closer youll eventually get to something you will like to push ahead with. Keep it up.
06-06-2004, 09:44 AM
Looks promising. Love the idea of the "most painful punishment machineflesh concept" ;)
06-06-2004, 10:04 AM
In my opinion the Crucifixion sketch is one of the best ideas I have seen here by far.... blew me away... Swietnie Ci idzie, nabardziej podoba mi sie czwarty szkic ukrzyzowania, a zreszta wszystkie sa swietne! szczeka mi opadla jak to zobaczylem :D Powodzenia
06-08-2004, 12:38 PM
now I will be focusing on mechanisms of the cross...
06-11-2004, 02:28 PM
here is another sketch of my idea ... still there is many more to explore...
it will be a hard week :D
