View Full Version : subdivision texturing
amnon 07-14-2002, 10:24 PM i'm trying to convert from max to maya.
i have modelled a little spcaeship in subdivision modelling and now i'm trying to texture it.
when i look in the texture view when i'm in polygon proxy mode i cant see the image. i can only see my image if i'm in standard mode.
why is that?
am i doing something wrong?

That'd be because your polygon proxy is a seperate node from your subdivision surface. If you want to see the the image in th UV editor while in polygon proxy mode you need to assign the shader to your polygon proxy. It kinda sucks that you apparently can't load an arbitrary image into the editor, and I can't find any hooks in MEL to make it display anything other than the assigned shader.
So go to polygon proxy mode and assign your shader. You'll be able to see it in the UV editor, but unfortunately it'll shade your polygon cage in the viewport as well.
