:hmm: my scanner is [DEAD]

I think in some ideas for this theme...

my method actualy is:

1. I making a inventary of references about flesh, visceral components and anatomy references (human and animal)

2. I think in photograph my own references of machines and eletric-mechanical dispositives, also the web images can help in the process...

3. My brain is actualy allocating two principal ideas:

3.1.a concept inspirated in a templary rider; [ cavaleiro templário ], combinating medieval theme whith religious cruzades, honor and justice systems and the objective precise: hunt and aniquilation of devils; your construction bio-mechanoid is projected for amply and potencialise your system of psico perceptions (like the Astral world, the oniric space) and the periferical senses like vision, audition and scent. this project also contain biological increments of other species for implement this power in the character.

(thanks vinicius menezes for this work, is inspirational man!)

3.2. a concept inspirated in a butcher, (meat cutter). a person whit lot of power to destruct and treatment of flesh. This person is brutal, and her danger factor is her INCONSIENSCE, your alienation and apathy. Your creation is product of a union the parts of dead and psico-corrupted human persons and machines.

well, at work!

The concepr is a mature soldier, age + or - 40 years old. the studies of anatomy are important; the "superdeformed" anatomy is inapropriate for this personality... Her power is a combination of sapiense, conscience and senses aprimorated by mechanisms and bio-electrical implants.

Cool stuff!!
I have a sugestion, though:
It'll be a mix of machine and flesh, right?
so I thought of a machine structure, simulating the toraxic (is that spelled right?) cage and other parts and the flesh part like one of the drawings U made, like showing the muscle strings.
Well, good luk in the contest!

Thanks Ville for your suggests... I like very much the idea of uses the aspect "muscle strigs" in the flesh parts, but the concept of the T.E.M.P.L.A.R to make necessary the use of mechanical parts and eletronic implements in a NORMAL anatomy...

Is this important because the final machine is a artificial cyber-biological system, and some the ESSENCIAL and UNIQUE parts of human person and inteligence to be used for this composite. This natural systems are impossible for the machines to copy;

Then this human parts - includes hands, thorax (whith heart, the vertebral column and the neurological system), face and brain must be normal and very expressive, because are engaged in perform the principal function in the person: incorporate the POWER of consciense, whit some paradoxes : FORCE and NICENESS of human power, the VIOLENCE and FAITH, the ABSOLUTE CHASTITY and PRUDENCE... VALOR of the authentic TEMPLAR KNIGHT, the guardian of the SECRET DOUTRINE...

Maybe the "exposed flash" remove this power and expressivity... I think in a style more dramatic, and the reality aspect of a human...

Well, about the concept, I pretense publish more details...

YOUR SUGESTIONS ARE A IMENSE INCENTIVE FOR ME.

thanks,

This is the first sketch of a T.E.M.P.L.A.R. project. This concept is a draw of the head of a person inspirated in a Knigth Templar, a hole knight. Your mission and propose is hunt and aniquilate devils. The T.E.M.P.L.A.R project is a bio-machine compose with mechanical and eletro-eletronic systems associated to special and unique human bio-systems like the heart, the vertebral collumn, the hands , the foots and the face, the nervous system and the brain. This parts are essencial, the machines not can copy or imitate your power, expression and enginnering. This parts caracterizes a human person and possibilite to machine a interaction whit the cosmic energy and superior and invisible light of the Lord [GOD], your fountain of powerful energy. This project isn't associated to any church or pseudo-esoteric school. Your fundament is a concept of the Knights TEMPLAR, your cruzades in reality are a unending combat to the devils, the personal devils, the adversaries of the real propose of this machine, the aprimorate and lapidate of the original system.
well, the cruzade iniciate! at the combat!

This image is a studie of the brain system. The [brain + heart]is a master system of management of information at the TEMPLAR project. The information data provides of the periferical senses - like the vision system, audition and scent - and the superior and most accurate, subtle senses like the paranormal audition, the wake up vision in the Astral World (the oniric space, the land of angels and devils) and the awesome intelligence, consience of the emotional-intuitive system ( a heart component in the intelligence).

Nicely done.
I think you already got a good pose for the character on the upper part of his body.
I'm not sure if the lower part is perfect yet. but i cannto tell without a background the char is standing on.
keep it up :)
I'm looking forward to see a background...you are drawing one right?

londero
05-16-2004, 04:00 AM
Thanks OrcOYoyo, your comments are substancial.

Yes, I have a idea for the background. The first idea is a "moment of extase" in a very darkness ambient, the hell cave. In the cave, some evils ( a especific kind, evils of luxury - the original pecado) torments the TEMPLAR...

But her pray and force is Superior; your pray is a hardwork, is a emotive and powerfull is iluminated.

Your heart is lights on, and her sintony of the invisible light of the Lord is absolute. The enemy - your tentations, the personal evil of a authentic knight Templar, can not support your illuminated force and sustain.

The evils are a biomachine form... mechanical creatures, are no feeling in your heart, but the miserable taste of the infected and corrupted sex, abnormal and bizarres forms of the carnal passion... the perfect combination of the flash... and machine...

Yes, the lower part of the sketch are unterminated... thanks for the precious tips!!

Well, at work!

The ablase Heart is a form that the TEMPLAR uses for reinvigorate your force, faith and vital energy, at the difficult moments in the Secret Cruzade.
The heart system is a complex biosystem. It is projected whit biocomponents, fluids and artificial connectors and sensors that recognize the pray and pure feeling changing this superior posture at the combat in absolute and radical action - the aniquilation of the wicked evils.

"How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night."

The hands are colored. I think in your expression, the Templar makes, in the scene, a petition, a pray to Lord.
Your heart signs the moment of glory, all the system are illuminated... the knight is ready for the combat...

In the hell cave, "moment of extase" is a instant, a "key" moment of combat - the internal and psicological combat - of the Knight TEMPLAR.

This vision, for the mahine, correspond to Astral World, the oniric world (land of dreams). the subtle place of emotions. The most kind of machines not can see this world, because not onw the human parts that provides this sensibility. And who can't see the evils, can't combat!

I like it, I think it might help if you find an area to focus on that is not so aligned with the image. Things in nature are very akward we tend to ignore it but shapes and alignment is usually messy.

Nice to see you making them droplets like that :D

Are you going to use them for the background only? Since if this would 3D you could use them as any surfaces like that, but in 2D you cant adjust and mold the shape that easily to any surface.

I'll be waiting for the result of this.

lagerea
05-20-2004, 05:29 PM
That's not entirely true, you can use displacement maps to mold the texture to any surface you like. It's also easier then using 3d.

Really liked your initial concept sketches, there is almost a very sort of old school Michaelangelo feel to them, if you know what i mean. The theme then itself is very suitble especially for the look you seem to be going for with your designs.

The final sketch of the woman/beast with the horns is very reminicent of some concept work that i have seen on a game called PRIMAL. One of the demon transformation designs for the main characters is similar.

Excellent work mate, definately want to see more. :D

Well, about the drops... I dont now, the drops are not onto the wall, but float in space, like a hologram light... I think in more intense lights to better perceive the "visceral light" in the cave... I think that layer whit lines of cave appears into the light effect, making this perception problem.

Hi londero,

Thanks for your comments on my thread. I have to say i like your colors an the mood of your scene and WIPs. usually that is one of the heaviest things during the process. Maybe you should use some colour perspective and line perspective for the stronger sense of space. Brighter and a bit stronger colors on the surfaces which are closer to the viewpoint and more detailed areas around them. If you put some details in the focus you can drive the viewer's eyes. now if i look at the image above i have no primer contact points. What is the most imortant on the image? Eyes? Hands? Movements or suffering expressions? If you ask these things from yourself you can decide what is your guideline here and you can depict that well. (just as an important line in a poem. )
The horn studies you made are really impressive I had some similar studies and i know how difficult is to draw them....
Perhaps a few colder colors on mechanical parts could be fine for them.
BTW, excellent work and fine progress!! Keep it upppppp mate:buttrock:

You are right about the sense of space. But I really still not work this in the compose... I think in uses the tonal perspective and brushes like "natural blur effect", but preserving the natural aspect of a real paint.
You tips are substancial, you are correct! I'm working individually in evilbots, the final image will group the image and define the eye direction... but I have a lot of points with some important details and signs and this is not easy mission, at lest to me...

Hi Londero!

Thanks for your comments on my entry. It's turning out really nice! I like your choice of colors and your stuff reminds of ancient Egipitian art.

The one thing I woud be cautious of is the (over)use of detail on the background behind the characters. It's important to treat whatever is further away from your 'camera' / POV with less detail, brightness, contrast and sharpness than whatever is on the foreground. That should add more depth to your whole scene. That may be why it's reminding me of Egiptian stuff, because it's looking a little flat. The characters could stand out more against the background...

Unless that's what you're going for, in that case, disregard what I said. Flat can be very nice. Klimt for instance...

------- translation------
Oi,

Qual é a tua nacionalidade?

In wood, the base is very solid and the effect is very subtle.

In kraft paper the effect is much more clear, but the fibers of paper knead... its a mischance.

Here is the result of a process of selection, adjust and position a collection of analogic crackles in the original paint. I think with the aspect of old paint can help in the psicological mean of the picture.

Hola londero
I've been following your Wip for some time now and I m truly impressed by your usage of real life painted material and colour shemes. Nothing I can give you a constructive critic on with my low and humble skills, besides that I really like how it comes along and developes.

I can already imagine this piece in a huge format hanging on a wall inside some kind of mechanized gothic - style cathedral - preserved since ages.
keep it up

Love the way you use real stuff combined with computer arts

I bet all the 3D artists who have seen your works are starting to crumble down paper and paints and stuff.

These would work so well as a texture over 3D artwork.

You have truly given me some very good ideas. Too bad i dont use regular medium that much, but seems like i have to use that technique somehow

Hi londero, beautiful work here! I like the medieval theme very much, the whole concept of the knights templar is something I've always found very fascinating. Particularly I like the image you've made with the head thrown back - The text over it makes it like a book cover and it's nice to see the image given a context. Maybe some detail in the background would be nice! Great stuff, keep it going!

Just more steps of paint. This daemon is a unique with iris and ocular globes in eyes.

I'm working with more analogic experiments and fluids to obtain images of fluids like smoke and atmosphere effects... bubbles of pain... and squirts of affliction an tribulations...

...For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
For it is written:

Poesia gaúcha para agradecer a homenagem por mais de bagual:

Esta poesia gaúcha tem a ver com o espÃ_rito TEMPLAR,
E seu tÃ_tulo (DESAFIO) tem a ver com o contest:

DESAFIO ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Sinto-lhe o bater do coração inquieto

Valeu Russo!!

fica então o tradicional

Dudes, soon I will post the new studies for the final compose to "moment of extase".

I'm actually concetrated in analise the bidimensional space in my picture, because I've directed this work to a concept that "old painting", and this connotate many elements like the crackes and geral atmosphere. In principle, I had working with a 3D cave (poor 3D...) and this, with the time, lost a bit the sense of a old paint,

But, to resolves this question, I decide make studies like the old masters, with mathematics and gold sections.

I'm back to work. Force! :wavey:

The golden Proportions studies. In this studies, I had new ideas... represent the picture "moment of exctase" like a old paint, and one devil scapes out of the paint. The spiral line conduct the observator eye in a interesting movement. With this modification, I have a lot of re-paints to make, but... at work!

Great process pictures! you've done a LOT of stuff for this competition. It'll be nice to see you layer the fluids into your work, I'd love to see more and more and more layers of texture just built up insanely high!

Keep it going!

in Carazinho City I draw this pattern to make the frame of the art.

In general I'm not uses this process, to make my ilustrations (vetor lines), I prefer the "hand" draw, obvious. But the short time and the conditions in Carazinho city make mes decides for this techinique.

E ai Rodrigo!
Raly cool the Frame!!
I liked the other composition better, though.
It's realy nothing alike, but there is a painting by Dali called "Giraffe on fire" where the actual giraffe is very small and U only notice it after a while.

To loco pra ver meu personagem texturizado, hehehe.
