View Full Version : Cinema SpaceScapes
InTheCity 04-29-2004, 06:46 PM I've been working on these for about a week or so. None of them taking longer
than a day to complete.
Created in Cinema 4D and Photoshop.

The architechture is simply amazing, as is the lighting and composition.
But I'm not too fond about the rain. It seems a bit tacked on. Maybe add a multiple layers of with varying intensities, blurriness, speed and length. And maybe add a more wet look on the surfaces, and some bouncing water (especially ripples on the water in the second picture), and perhaps some mist.
A great set of pictures, though. Very atmospheric.

That last render is fantastic. You have vision and an eye for detail that is enviable. Nice work ITC!

I really like the last image. It would be nice to see something behind the buildings (in the white areas.)
I too think the scenes would look a little better without the rain.
I also think that the third image would be much more interesting if it did not stop/fade into white so soon.
You have a very good imagination and the images are very nice. I think that if could inject some more realism into your lighting these images would be perfect!
Regardless, they are loads of fun to look at.
Nice work.

The last one is the best. :applause:
Rest, the buildings are very nicely designed, but they all look miniatures. Rain is not adding anything to the mood IMO.
hey man!! --you've got a good stuff ... I like a lot the second pic.

Wonderful work! ...and with C4D... awesome!
  :buttrock:
I do agree about the immediate falloff to white. Something in the background (even blurry) is always better then nothing. Rain doesn't bother me at all. I like that. The images are a bit crisp. Even so, his is better then anything I could do right now.

Excellent work.
The lighting and attention to detail is amazing. And I really like the effect in the last render, with some areas looking like they were painted.
So are these personal pieces or are they for work?
The rain falls 2 and the last one are my favs.
Matrix is back !.é. i love the 3rd one

Thanks for the Crits guys. They were all made just for the experience and for a little fun, nothing serious.
Basically I built 2 cities, both taking no longer than about 4 hours, if you notice there's duplicate pieces used throughout in all of them, some basic lighting/fog/etc and then a great deal of photoshop tweaking. The renders were extremely fast in all of them, about 20 minutes a piece.
I will return to these concepts soon when I get some time and rebuild- bigger and better, perhaps take some time to really make a stunning scene.
Thanks!
Here's a wire of the model used in the last 2 images.

The last 2 are my favorites. Awesome job! More MORE!! :applause: :buttrock:
Its really good man, but as I ve said before you really need to work on your geometry things can get a bit visually confusing at times. I think if you were able to accomplish that you work would be amazing. I really love your lighting though and that post work on the rain one really brought the image togther :) (y) congrats man...
Good to see some more c4d on the front page :)

"Awsome work there.. any chance of bigger renders ? I want to have the second and third ones for wallpapers in 1600x1200"
I'm working on a new project that'll take atleast 4 weeks. The quality will be much better than these.
"This is awesome work! Can you please tell me with what tools you did the rain in Photoshop?"
There is a preset rain effect in the actions tools.
"How come that was made in 4 hours?"
I'll be building a tutorial hopefully this weekend, to show my quick method for building complex cities. I'll host it and post on my site asap.

Wow - :applause: - I'm incrredibly happy to see that such great work can be achieved with Cinema4D - which is often underrated...
Nice job !
Just 1 tiny crit: in the first image, your rain uses PS motion blur; if you look at the rain near the borders of the image, it's more white than the rest of the image, because the blur uses color from the borders... next time create your rain on a separate bigger file and then copy paste layers to your new file.. but once again, it's just a detail and has no effect whatsoever !!!
