this was my first try on hipoly ... can you call it like that? ... err ok higher-poly then lowpoly model however I usually do really lowpoly models for games or just for fun this time (model is old) I wanted to do a bit more detailed one. the model has almost 4k polys... I model with milkshape 3D (maybe you know it) and it's not made for hipoly modeling.
I made this model with vertex modeling

this is in finished work because I won't work on it further it's finished like it is now.

4000 polys for the inside and outside of a car is still considered low poly. Not quite game low, but still low. Looks nice for a low poly model, good use of shape and faces.

For that low amount of polys its good, but what the hell is Milkshape 3d?Never heard of it.

Lol milkshape is a cheap 3d modeling prog (20 bucks i think) its extremely basic...for the lowest of low poly modeling..aka for q3 and ut and other variants...btw lookin good ;)

first, tnx for the comments... yeah milkshape is a cheap modeling prog you can get for 20$ at chumbalum-soft (http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/)

I once got a max version... R3 (I think) over one of my fathers office workers but I somehow couldn't work with it, seems I'm more a low-poly guy ... not that I am boxy myself :P

here's one more pic where you actually can see the front of the car

good stuff for such low poly.

If you ever feel the need to expand your horizons :) try gmax from www.discreet.com , I have never really used milkshape myself but ive been assured and imagine gmax to be quite a lot better.

Lol yeah gmax is much better than ms3d >< too bad i can't even model that good in max ;)

really good with this little number of polys...my models even has more than 100.000.....my cpu and gpu often very thankful for this reason......;-)
how about to reproduce it in high poly?! must look great
but so far respect for the modell...exactly the A8 from audi!!!

impressive. lowpoly, and it can open the door!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

yeah I'm not that highpoly kind of guy... I did models with 400-1000-polys all the time this was the one with the most polys... as long as I'm using MS3D I can't really go over 4k since the program isn't made for such polycounts, I once tried and made a 8000 poly cube... after moving, rotating or wathever you have to wait a whole bunch of time before you can proceed... I tried gmax the last few hours... lemme look if I can work with that... maybe I can do more detailed models there

hey, i love your audi a8, looks like a well thought out and accurate model. thats really what i'd rather see, a good low-poly model that looks accurate, rather than a model with a trillion polygons that has been subpatched to hell, and still looks more like a lump of melted butter than the car it is supposed to look like :p ... but yours :airguitar i like it

just one things (and by the way im trying o learn lightwave) how would you describe 'vert' modelling....it seems to me that most low-poly game models are made mainly from 3 point polygons (triangles) but how have you gone about making your car? like what is your first move? do you joint points, like dot-to-dot? and how long exactl do you spend (time wise) on buidling such a model?

sorry for asking so many questions, but i find it's a great way to learn.

miss sono xxx :)

Milkshape 3d ..... :shame:

but it is really cool , can you post a render or something , or with a meshsmooth what ever it's called in Milkshape

mhh I don't have a renderprogram, but the last screenshot has smooth shading activated in the 3D view

export it in 3dsMax or such thing....as an 3ds or dxf file i guess should work!
