Sup guys, im new to the forum so sorry for my newbie-ness.

I've been searching these forums and other websites for maya usage (Examples, tutorials, etc). Even the ones (or all of them) on this site.

Im still really confused. All the stuff I render looks like crap.. an effect of light and maybe I supose a nice shader was used in this picture:

Not that you care but I Pmed him and asked how to go about it or to offer any tutorial sites...

::sigh:: How do I acheive such an affect? I've tried playing with global allumination.. and shaders, but im a newbie :(

Any pointers on lighting (especially the above effect) and renders with metals?

Sorry for the newbish stuff (You have to start somewhere)

Thanks in advance guys..

i don't think that's anything special...a low diffuse, high reflection, in a spheredome? with a what looks like 3 or 4 lights.
the person is more so trying to showcase the model not the shader.

I heard rendering pros talking of several shaders layered in depth. As a real car is paint...

Ok kewl.. so use a few layers just like you would paint a car.. add a few lights around the area and bam!

Sounds kewl.

Yea kewl I got the effect I wanted.

Now.. I have setup some image's for refference on NURBS Planes.

Im creating a car. The only problem im at now is starting it off.. Do i use the CV Curve Tool and get the basic outlines of the car or what?
