View Full Version : Still: Metal Slug Character.

This is a cartoonish vietnam...jungle whatever... soldier (It's based on the Metal Slug game character, maybe someone recognize him)
well, I made the gun long ago then the soldier, feel bad about wasting them, so I made a background with Zbrush2 a couple of days ago, Hope you like it :D
Max, Photoshop and ZBrush2 were used here :

Looks like an action figure, but seems it's intentional. Also, i'd change the composition a bit, make it not so symmetrical (you know, golden mean...).

i agree w. azazel... somethimg like moving the character to the left 1/3 of the image.
his nose and elbow seem a bit too sharp/pointy, but otherwise it's really great

Whoa, cool! I also wanted to model Marco (that's his name) a while back...
Very cool, I like it a lot, although he seems too rigid, as already said, like an action figure.

I love when people do CG that looks like it's made of clay, so I'd be happy even if the picture didn't already r0xors.
My only crit would be that it looks a little dark for daytime, like you put something over the lens.

I like it. It really looks like a toy. Even the set looks like its made out of painted plastic. It would be nice to see some other angles.

pretty neat.I also like how everything looks like its made of clay. ive always liked that look to begin with and it fits in so nice with this.

I don't really have anything of value to add, insofar as I'd like to say that, as a lover of the Metal Slug games, this kicks ass.

Very nice, expressive, impressive indeed.
I have only one thig to say:
The soldier is walking on mud, but it has no stins on it's boots.
Maybe my suggestion would destroy the cartoon look and feel, but I think you loose nothing if you make some tests...

Very nice, this one made me smile. It's easily recognized as a character from Metal Slug. If there's ever a 3D-version of the game, I hope it will look something like this.
I'd maybe change the composition a bit, so that the character would come out more from the background...

I always wanted to make it look like clay, so Im happy with the replies :love:
chasejase: yeah, I was thinking about making some scene in a town, the problem was that the enemy must be some nazi and the games have always been very...bloody , and modeling nazi gore cartoons is something that could be found... disgusting, so
I did some jungle instead.
Daimyo: he has some subtle mud and dirt on the boots, I put more at first but it looked more like a poor cartoon guy who is just getting buried... so I tried to make it look like he was walking and then stopped to watch the signal.

really neat style.
the only thing i would change is the contrast
it all seems to blend together
its hard for the eye to see what is importaint
I also remember the metal slug backgrounds being insane
not that i would change this image, but in case you wanted to futher develope other scenes

A great model from one of my favourite arcade games.
As a few others have said it would be great to see a scene from the game, one of the cities perhaps, or even the Metal Slug itself.
Could you render a different view, may be slightly more head on as I would love to see some more of the character.

dont bother about the nazi enemy .. you are an artist ..
you should have a freedom of expression..
look cuase you model or render an ugly nazi .. ont mind that you like them ..
if i remember ..in the games they was all looking really dumb and ugly..
by the way your avatar .. could make a class enemy for him..
