Hello, late entrant speaking ;)

I just feel that I need to introduce myself a bit before I start with the concepts, since I doubt that many, if any, of you know me.

I am hardly a pro level 3D artist, or even college level. 3D is a hobby until I make it a career, and I have no "professional" animation packages like Maya, 3Ds Max, Lightwave, ZBrush, etc.

I use Anim8or :)

So I will clarify the reason why I'm entering late and with nothing for me, in regards to skill level and material means. I feel that I need to get as much help as possible to improve my modeling, imagination, perception, and more. Entering a large competition with so many supporters is a prime way to get such help. However, though this makes me sound like a newb of some sorts, I am able to make fairly decent models, so I have a chance of not boring you guys with ugly, unworthy renders and images.

Well, I'll admit, the prize is a nice attraction, but primarily this is a learning experience. Through this short time, I hope I will be able to accomplish a lot, and also get geared for the next competition.

I've already seen a lot of everyone else's works, and they all look promising!

Well, I'll stop blathering now and start thinking of a good concept to create (I have a few ideas...)

Best of luck,

Raxx IsBak
aka Randall

Ok...here's a sketch I did yesterday. I stopped sketching because it started looking just like all the other entries with cables and junk attached to their body and head. So, though I still will be using him in the background, he will not exactly be the main focus of this project.

I'm usually very creative with my lil' story, but for now I'll give you the short version of it.

The guy in the sketch is the "master". Once a human, he was captured by a now (in relation to the day shown in the final render/project) annihilated terrorist group to be the mediator in an experiment. The experiment consisted of two large cats (some version of tiger) used for battle. One cat has various mechanical implants to enhance it's physical and mental capabilities, and also has a psychic chip installed in it's brain to recieve transmissions from the Master. The other cat is a fully mechanical cat, with the same chip installed in it's CPU core. Once training has been completed for the more-organic tiger, then both have to fight each other to the death. The purpose of the experiment is to decide whether it would be best to use fully-mechanical or semi-mechanical organisms for battle and other various uses.

Well, that sums it up. I'll probably add elements as I work. More sketches to come (hopefully, gotta find some refs of tigers to look at :))

Feel free to give me a good romping about the sketch. It's not too great, yes, but if there are any crits about the anatomy (not sure if the arms are too long or not), then that'd be great.

Wish me luck in the next update!

Hi raxx,

I wish you good work and i like your honest speech over there.
I had an anatomy professor at the university and he has lots of superb books about animals (lion, giraffe and many others). I have to go to school this afternoon and I will check titles and other things, perhaps you can purchase it if you want because some of them are translated to english and german too. by the way I try to send a few pics from that.

I think semi-mecha cat(tiger or lion etc) could be great.

Best luck in this contest....and lot of time to learn!

see ya :wavey: ,

What about modifying the idea a bit to make it a machinefleshish crucifiction with extreme pain and the biggest nails anyone has ever seen?
