View Full Version : Weapon: Nunchucks
Wolverine123 04-25-2004, 10:20 PM hey. This is my first WIP thread that im posting, and i have only been using 3DS MAX for the past 2 months so this aint gunna be perfect :) . I have recently been working on some Nunchucks. I think the modelling is done, but all i gotta do now is add some lighting, fix the textures and make a nice scene :) . The poly count at the moment is 10854. I think the reason it is so high is because of the rings in the chain, they each are 400 polys :( , but ill try and lower that ASAP. C&C is welcome :) . Just look at the model and say what you think, i wont be offended by anything that is said, i just need to be told what is wrong so i can fix it. Its all part of the learning curve :D . Thanks

Nice start, I would add some segments on the metal part so they look rounder. Don't mind the ploy count as of now, the poly count is more for complicated sceens and games, if your computer makes it, and the render time is ok, then let it be.
what tekniks have you used? Box modelling, nurbs?

For silver try something like this:
Standard crome material, chage diffuse to something like RGB 195,195,195
Spec Lvl 323
Gloss 28
Anustiop 29
Press the Maps/reflection and add a mix keep the old map, add a reflect/refract on the empty space, make a around 50% mix, chage the reflect value to something around 60, this is a quite good silver material, but u can alwas tweak the setings into perfection, try for example changing the shader type to metal, phong or something else. Also if you have a more complex sceen you won't need the lakerem to make a good reflection, right now it just to make the silver item positoned in a more complex eviorment.
Hope it helps ^_^
