With my entry, I intend to go the fantasy route, rather than the realm of traditional science fiction.

In the world of fantasy, Dwarves are often one of the most dominant races. And though they are prevelant in many different settings, their priorities are generally the same. Dwarves lives in the mountains; they love riches of all sorts; they are short; and, most importantly, dwarves love to maintain their facial hair.

Enter the dwarven barber. He must undertake a task that the gods themselves would find daunting - that of grooming the incredibly hardy hair of hundreds of dwarves, so that they look their best when crushing hordes of vile orcs or other villainy.

Obviously, he cannot do such a thing without the aid of steam powered machinery and the advanced mechanisms common to their race.

Concept sketches soon.

Here's my first draft for a concept

http://www.flatuloso.com/gallerypictures/conceptsketch1.jpg

Few changes which I already intend to make:

1. Make the beard more dwarven, much more regal and well groomed, he is a barber after all.

2. Find a better way to attach the high powered hair dryer - I'm going to work out it's construct seperately. Originally I intended it to be shoulder mounted, but when I attached the backpack (which I rather like) I realized that wasn't going to work.

3. find out what to do with the other hand, I want a razor and a comb implemented mechanically, and I'm figuring it's going to have to work with his right hand.

Let's hear some crits.

Please submit your concepts here (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/machineflesh/submit_entry.php).

Poor dwarf.. Carrying such heavy loads just to cut hairs...
I think Steam Powered Scissor will work perfectly as a barber...

Hmmm... just a thought.

Good Luck man ;)
