View Full Version : CD Copy Protection on Games - Identifying Which is Which?

I recently got a DVD burner and was looking @ my large fat stack of old games. I recall that a few of these were copy protected somehow and I was wondering, would it be feasible to dump these CD's onto DVD? I'd like to compress down my collection of junk and this is one way of doing it. The rest of the CD's I'd probably just dump. Of these, Diablo I, The Sims, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Freespace2, AGe of Empires, and a few others.

Good idea, bad idea?

What I would do :)

Go buy Virtual Drive 8
It will allow you to make Virtual CDs of Most games, and I think All Old Games

Then Burn the VCD Files to the DVD.

Just rember to keep the origionals

i swear by alcohol 120% it is the best program for this kinda stuff i know.

and so is daemon tools

to run copy protected games the disk thie has to be scrambled with the apropriate scramble technology that in theory can only exsist on the cd.

but alcohol 120% can emulate this protection and even place it into the .iso the the cds are created on.

both daemon tools also come with virtaul cds that a perfect for running games.

so what you would do is burn multiple games onto the as .iso's or whatever format the almighty alcohol tells you onto to one dvd (youl only need the cd that player runs to start the program)

and then the cd should start perfectley .

i do this to all my favourite games as it gets annoying changing all the cds over. and will cracking the game is very illegal and also dosnt allow you to update the games this is a great way as long as you dont distribute the software :wise:
